I CLAed a shutter for a customer recently, its working good as new, very low milage camera.

The original cable release cant be found. Seems a regular cable release doesn't fit this shutter, the tip is too big and wrong thread.

Is there an adapter or a special cable available for this camera?

In Germany two threads for releases were standardized, a conical and cylindrical one.

Could it be that at your sample the thread was just harmed?

Looking at the picture, it sure seems to me as if any modern cable release should fit. All of mine have a threaded conical tip that fits all of my shutters for my view camera and all of my other cameras. Could the cable release that you tried be the problem?......Regards!

The diameter of the cylindrical, straight one is about the middle diameter of the conical one. So it hardly can look too big. Also one should be able to distinguish even the female versions by meticulous visual inspection.
The straight one is the american one, I doubt it was ever used in Europe, though it might have been used on some export version.

AGX my standard cables just dont fit in the hole, too big. but i did find one old cable in my junk heap i thought was cheap, cloth covered, that seems to fit perfectly. its very tip is ever so slightly smaller and does thread in n holds.

i wonder if newer cables are just sloppy quality control, out of spec or perhaps there is no need to make tips start smaller?

i just find it strange a brand new $70 cable doesnt fit but my old junk from the 60s does.
