Hi Drew. Thanks for your PM  Sorry, I won't be able to make it. I have to work Friday evening and Saturday daytime. Hope you guys have a good outing and make sure to post some shots! It'll be fun to see what you all come up with :D

Aaron

I Plan to Come, Saturday Only

I'll be there on Saturday with my 5x7, just let me know where and when to meet up.

Tim

maybe a pm from troy or mark to "others" to see if they are coming up? The NE regional thread might not be checked by others too often. Suzanne, Vinnie, Moophews, James, Bill, Ed, and Lizz expressed an interest. I'm definately coming up....hell, I might even check out the real estate ads while I'm up there.....!

Hey there ARE people coming. That's cool. If anyone is around Friday night they can meet at my studio: 615 Congress Street, suite 301.

Where should we meet up Saturday Mark? Breakfast?

I'll be checking in to the West End Inn some time Friday afternoon and will make my way to the Congress Street studio in due course. What's a good time, Troy? Anyone else?

Anytime after 5p.m. will be fine. My studiomates and I will be there with some new work to show —*and of course wine and cheese. Do you prefer Velveeta or Cheese Whiz?

So I'll be there Friday afternoon, probably looking for a bite to eat. Anyone want to try to make it three (I'll have my wife with me), or four or five? Drew? Gene? Mark? You dining?

I should be wandering into Portland about 4:00 or 5:00 or so. I am not familiar with the city so where to meet?

gene

Let's meet at Troy's studio at 5:00. He is located towards the west end of all the galleries. It would be nice to bring a bottle of wine or a nibbly to add to Troy's stash. We can then wander through Portland and check out some of the other galleries to see what there is, and possibly end up having dinner somewhere. If you expect to be arriving much later than 5, then drop me an e-mail and get my cell phone number - I can let you know where we are.
The easiest place to park close to Troys studio is the multistory garage that is west of Congress St, between Forest and High Streets. To get there, take the Forest St exit from 295 and go east. You will cross Park St, and then start going up a hill, the garage will be on your right hand side, 2/3 of the way up the hill. To get to Troys studio, continue walking up the hill to Congress St (the next light), turn right, and look for the State theatre building on your right.

If you will miss Friday night but will be joining us on Saturday, let's meet at Becky's Diner on Commercial St (waterfront), at 8:30. After Breakfast we can go to the Museum to see the Glickman exhibit, and over breakfast we can decide where to go to shoot after the museum.

Question... About how long a drive is it to Portland from Springfield? I would rather get there a little early than late. I am thinking that I should leave about noon or so to get there before 5:00. ***I don't plan on breaking any land-speed records!***

If you don't hit traffic around Andover, then it is about 3hrs. Traffic in Andover can add an hour to that, so leaving at noon should give you plenty of time.

Thank you sir!

Ok, the weather isn't going to be mild and calm! Their calling for very windy weather...and so should be interesting. Wind I can take...rain I can't! don't forget coat and gloves, and something to weigh down the tripod.

Wunderground predicts it to be nice Friday, while we're driving up, with increasing chance of showers Saturday especially later in the day. Bring a cap. And a cement block.

Bill

Well folks it was a good weekend Down East in Portland. I want to thank Mark and his wife for such generous hospitality. It was good to see Troy, Tim, Drew and Bill again. The bad weather on Saturday couldn't dampen the good times.
Two rolls are drying as I type... 5 negs look real promising. I hope to be able to get another roll (along with a roll from the Caboose shoot this summer) processed tonight. I'll try and get some quick work prints (8x10s) done soon and post them when available.
Thanks all! The New England group of APUG sure has some good people.

I've put three photos up in the workshops/get-together gallery from Saturday. If I can figure out how to trick my scanner, I'll put up one of the 5x7's as well. (The beauty of di***al is eluding me: the scans look worse than the originals, then the images look positively dull by the time they hit APUG...)

I'd like to add my thanks to our terrific local hosts, Mark and Troy.

Best,
Tim
