The canal path sounds interesting, John. Maybe I'll find a baby stroller and bring the 8x10.

Thread got quiet so I thought I would bump it up.
....If you can find us a fast place for dinner Friday ..

Thanks Lee. I was begining to wonder if there was still interest in the event. In Montrose there is pretty heavy Friday dinner traffic. I think the key to faster speed may be earlier dinner. When do you think you will be here?

Thanks Mike. I recently walked the part of the towpath I described just to be sure nothing had changed. There are some amazing bridge structures, generations of transportation, all intersecting in a short bit of space. For much of that mile the towpath is the only thing separating the Cuyahoga River from the OH & Erie Canal. Bridges of many different designs are crossing over and intersecting each other.

If others are interested we can go Saturday morning.

We're still interested! We'll be there Friday night after dinner (probably 9ish, maybe later) until Sunday morning.

Glad to hear it. Are you still bringing another couple?

I hope you can make it Charlie. If you are coming please PM me with this information from the boiler plate.

We have not had a special demonstration or mini-workshop for a while and I had an idea I'd like to do. The last time htimsdj and I got together he was using a Polaroid 350. Subsequently I got one also (these are the cameras with the Zeiss rangefinder). I'd like to shoot everyone's portriat on Polaroid to explore what these cameras will do and as a gift for each sitter. I'd also propose to anyone interested to bring any Polaroid gear (backs or cameras) and shoot some Polaroid, and we can show our work in the afternoon.

Another thing we have done in the past that newcomers might be interested in is recycling darkroom equipment. We have had informal swapmeet from the trunks of cars passing along surplus darkroom equipment into needy hands.

Along those lines, Jeff B, did you ever replace that capacitor in the Durst Power Supply? If not, the offer still stands that if you bring it with you (and the new part) I'll replace it.

Love the idea of portraits. Unfortunately I do not have a Polaroid 350, I do have a Polaroid back for individual sheets for the 4x5 but have not seen any film for it for some time.

I could bring the 150mm and the Hassy and do some portraits too (OHHH and the compendium shade); just not as fast as the Polaroid instant prints. I've got some alien bees, stands, umbrellas and flash meter is anyone is interested is using them; somewhere we could stretch some AC runs.

John, do you have any flowering trees or bushes by the pond about that time?

Great ideas Dale. Thank you for contributing. Nice portrait offer. I don't personally have anything Polaroid other than a 4x5 Polaroid film holder that has been lonesome for film a few years. At the FAVA show, Lee L, Dolly and I met Mat M and his girl friend. They are thinking about coming to the event, working out some scheduling conflicts. Mat had two images in the show, one an 8x10 self Polaroid portrait. Both the Polaroid holder and 8x10 camera were new to him. Not bad getting juried into a six state regional show with a new process, in a new format, on a new camera. I hope they will join us.

The recycling of good darkroom equipment is also a great idea. Bring what you got to sell or trade. Please feel welcome if you want to post in this thread, what you might bring ahead of time to see if anyone is interested. On the other hand, just bring it, because there are a lot of us who don’t know we want something until we lay eyes and hands on it.

Lee,

I think the blooming sequence here goes weeping cherry (white), five apple trees of different varieties, lilac, cherry tree and late dogwood. When these will each kick in can only be predicted by God and the weatherman as far as I know. We have pusy willow and daffodils in bloom right now, but they will be gone by then. At some point some iris will also kick in.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I might be able to scrounge up something polaroidy. We also have lots of spare darkroom gear we could bring along as well.

We replaced the capacitor and I think all is working well now. Thanks though!

I would be interested in having someone look at our densitometer (to make sure it is working properly) and negs to see if we are on the right track with our personal dev time and personal film speed.

Jeff,

I sent you a PM on a possible way to solve the densitometer question with a local connection.

I'll email htimsdj and jameswilliamsjones and see if they can make it.

Hmm, I have not heard back from either of these guys, I'll email them again.

I was set to get my Fuji instant film, but B&H is closed for Passover.

Thanks Lee. Dolly has four days off so it is a great Easter. Happy one to everyone else in the group.

Thanks Dale. Rattle their chains. We need good people for a party.

My class final critique will be Wedneday before our gathering so I should have twenty matted prints to show from my new project. It is something I think can expand to a group possibility, and very close, but I haven't gotten clearance on that yet. Just a teaser.

The matts just came off the UPS truck for the series. I have to print from now till critique time. Penny always wants just one little change, to each picture, about four times before we run out of time rather than her ideas. I love it though. Keeps me shooting. I hope everyone else will have work to show.

I talked to Peter last night. He said he would post last night. Peter?? Peter??? He has some interesting things to show, his own work and more of his collecting. Who else is doing what?

Hi guys - I did get Dale's email about this thread (thanks Dale), and I'm definitely in for Saturday, possibly Sunday too. Friday I've already got something going on. Been quite busy with non-photography stuff; I'll catch you all up next week.

thanks, Jeff

From the Midwest Large Format Asylum:

"John,

Just wanted to let you know that Mike and I are planning to join you in Ohio next week. I'm going to leave the Chicago area around 3:30 cst and drive over to Mike's place and catch a ride with him. I'm looking forward to meet with you Saturday and possibly Sunday morning for a time.

Frank "

Mike S, founder of the MWLFA posted earlier that he would be here. Frank runs the website. Great people. MWLFA has a print review in Indiana in January that I have enjoyed the last two years. It was a day of looking at great prints from 19 members last January.

We'll be down there with Charlie Wheelihan as well, coming in Friday evening.

Thanks Jeff B.

I just got a confirmation and contact info from Charlie.

Are you still planning to camp? If so Cindy is still planning to move in on Eva again. I asked Charlie if he would be camping or staying at a motel?

I wonder if the Country Maid has considered renting over night parking space?

Evan,

Glad you are coming. For those that don't know Evan, he shoots 11x14 and makes some very nice images. We met first time in Louisville at the View Camera conferance some years back.

All comers, please bring prints to show.

John and others,
We had talked about portraits and I wonder if that is still on? I'll still bring some mono flashes if we want to play with them. If we have a zero interest I'll leave them behind.

Looking forward to your special shooting places and seeing everyone again.
Lee
