I carried all nine of mine (not at the same time)in a Gerry kid pack while I had cameras hanging on my neck and a fly rod in my hand. I think you capable of figuring out haow to pack yours and a camera(tho it may not be a LF)
My parents carried me in a Gerry pack. The carriers I have all put him in front. I haven't found one I like that can go on my back. Once I can pick one, then I'll be ok. I'm looking forward to when he's big enough to help carry.

I highly recommend the Emmaljunga Duo Combi stroller. It has a large metal basket below, and the top is switchable between a basinette and a seat, good from birth until they don't want it anymore. The basket below will hold a good sized diaper bag and a good sized camera bag at the same time. I'd carry two of the large brown paper grocery bags under the basinette. The whole load is off your feet and you can leave baby sleeping safely in the basinette while you shoot. Ours is now on its 6th or 7th child after our two used it, and we still see it around town in good shape after 19 years of constant duty. The cloth covers come off for washing, and it can fold down remarkably small to fit in a car trunk. Also has good sized (6-8") wheels with soft rubber tires on metal spoked wheels. One tough and versatile buggy, but not cheap. I also had a Kelty backpack child carrier, but would take the Emmaljunga over that 99% of the time.

Lee (professional father for 19 years and counting)

Oh, just so you're prepared ... by the time he's old enough to carry your cameras, he'll be loaded down with his own cameras and asking you for your film and asking to borrow the lens you're using.

P.S. but it's worth it.

From what I can tell the paper mill is part of the park. There is even a plaque showing the original structure and giving some history of the mill. The machine was left in place for "interpretation."
However, there is a fence between the trail and the machine, but there is no lock on the gate.

As in trespassing ...

Is it part of the park now, or still private property?

Lee

Part of the park, just off the tow path.

I'm planning on just doing the round trip on Sat, but I may bring stuff with me just in case. I haven't told my neighbor, yet, so I hope he's around this weekend to let my pack out. I probably won't be going out and shooting - just around your pond. I haven't quite figured out the logistics of carrying gear and baby much less shooting while carrying him.
But I'm looking forward to seeing whoever's there and having adult conversations! Or as adult as they get anyway.

You are welcome to use my baby jogger while you are here if that would help.

KEH is going to be at the Richfield, Days Inn again - May 22 & 23 - 10am to 3pm...

Shawn
Last time they were only buying, apparently from a want list, 2 guys with laptops. Will you be coming for that camera show? I might come over for a browse if I know which day you'd come. Maybe grab lunch.

I would normally love to, Lee... Alas that weekend is going to be my final opportunity to get things ready for a workshop the following weekend.

I was at this event last year around the same time and while KEH was only buying there were others there selling - I got a hell of a deal on my Toyo 45AII. Never know what you might find!

Yes, I've gotten some great deals there as well, and also had to pass up a number of great deals simply for lack of cash. I'll likely go over again this time. Ownership of the show has transferred to Abraham. He's trying to revitalize it a bit, and I want to support it so that it continues.

You are both welcome to camp out here that weekend if you change your mind Shawn or Lee if you just want to come over and talk. Mean while back to this weekend's event.

Earlier I mentioned that Peter Spangenberg would bring an Adams retouching machine for us to see. That reminded me that I have a much less sophisticated Burke & James retouching stand that we can see to compare with the Adams.

Latest weather has it clearing up by the weekend. It rained a lot today (Tuesday) and is supposed to Thursday. That should mean good water flow at the falls, possibly new trees falling to act as props.

Still wondering when several people will be arriving.

Thanks John. I'll contact you off this thread about the camera show weekend. Too early to make specific plans yet.

Jeff,

A welcome first post to Apug.

Sorry your first visit will be short. At this point (Wed. AM) I think people will be going to Blue Hen and Buttermilk falls from daybreak on. I have suggested we cancel the 10 AM meet at our house. Instead I suggested people go to the Richfield Family Restaurant for brunch. They are located about a mile west of the Blue Hen parking lot across the street from the Hampton Inn on Brecksville Rd., near the OH Turnpike entrance.

If people go to the restaurant when they feel like it eventually all players will get there, either arriving there as there first effort of the day or arriving after their interest in the falls. The time spent eating may absorb the difference in schedules.

Happy to add another name to the attendees list. I just received a PM from Steve S, “Scherbis” on the Midwest Large Format Asylum saying that he will join us. I hope to hear by return email when he will arrive and whether he will be camping or staying at a motel.

As of Thursday morning Weather.com says it is going to be a pretty good weekend in Bath, Ohio.

Friday: Widely scattered showers early. Chance of rain 30%. Partly cloudy, high 70 degrees F, low 50 degrees F.

Saturday: Mostly sun then clouds. Chance of rain 0 %. High 62, low 45.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain 10 %. High 64, low 54.

I think it will be tolerable.

There has been a lot of rain this week so plan on mud, wet grass and bush in the woods.

After the weekend my next project is to photograph, price and offer my
Linhof Techikardan 45 kit For Sale. If you think you might be interested I can show you the gear in person rather than have you just look at pictures. Items will be priced so that a lens or the whole kit can be bought.

This has been an excellent kit for my needs, but I have pretty much moved to 8x10 and 7x17 leaving this gear unused in the closet. Everything is in very good condition. All shutters have been exercised periodically. Here is a list.

Linhof Techikardan 45 serial# 0851129
Standard bellows replacement made by Camera Bellows
Wide Angle bag bellows
Folding focusing hood 45 001612
Right angle reflex attachment 45 002628
Tele/macro bracket for TK 45 002741
Bosscreen
Standard Linhof ground glass. This has small right angle Sharpy marks for the area covered by a 6x7cm roll film back that used the camera before I could develop 4x5 film. RF back has been sold.

Copy Linhof operator’s manual for TK45S which covers all aspects of this camera.

Lenses: All metal and paint in very good shape. Glass is in excellent condition. There are no scratches, haze, fungus, separation. Shutters in good working order, functioning properly at each speed. Always stored in an open zip lock bag to provide abrasion & dirt protection without condensation.

90mm f8 Schneider Technika (select) Super Angulon f8-64 1-500 serial# 11 508 711 (1970-72) Front factory cap. Rear replacement cap, retaining ring mounted on Technika style board.

135mm f/5.6 Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-S MC Lens with Copal #0 Shutter f5.6-64
Serial # 11659441. Both factory caps, retaining ring mounted on Technika style board.

180mm Rodenstock Apo-Macro Sironar f5.6 MC f5.6-64 Suitable for both straight and macro shooting, Apo-Macro-Sironar Lens with Copal #1 Shutter Serial # 11236122
Recommended film size 5”x7” Both factory caps, retaining ring mounted on Linhof Technika board.

210mm Schneider APO-Symmar f5.6 F5.6-64, 1-400 serial# 14 322 066 (1988-1991)
Both factory caps, retaining ring mounted on Linhof Technika board. Two small screw holes were drilled in this board by the prior owner. Both are covered by one piece of black tape and are light tight.

300mm EBC Fujinon C f8.5. Copal 1 f8.5-64 serial# 632976
Both factory caps, retaining ring mounted on Technika style board.

Spare Linhof Technika board drilled for Copal 1 shutter
Spare recessed Technika board drilled for Copal 1 shutter. The recess appears to be about 1cm. There are two small screw holes drilled for a cable release holder. These can be covered with black tape or used as the prior owner planned.

There is enough bellows draw for my 450mm Nikon f9 M, but that is now being used on the larger formats.

Many light tested film holders.

Here is a link to Linhof’s page on the current camera with specs. http://www.linhof.de/technikardan_e.html Mine is the generation before (TK45, no S), but most is the same. Note that at the bottom center of the page there is a link to a pdf with additional details.

Hmmm.... staying only one night and everything is wet.... maybe sleeping in the Escort is in order again, proved surprisingly tolerable last time. Of course I was a bit envious of Lee, stretched out in that mini-van! =)

Savannah is a bit of a cougar. She has always liked younger men. If you would like to curl up with a good looking blond she says she is available. I should warn you however that not only does she snore, she also groans with joint pain. On the other hand she is an inexpensive dinner date. She has been known to find her own meals. If you like possum Cindy may be a better choice as she is a proven huntress.

Anyone attending have some Fuji Acros in 4x5? Or maybe 120? I plan on using it for night photography and would like to try it before ordering in bulk. It's expensive so let me know what you need for it.

Shawn, I have some in 120, I think. I'm not shooting much lately, so I'd rather it get used than sit in my freezer. I'll have to check and see how much I have.

Speaking of equipment. jameswilliamjones is looking for a lensboard to mount a big f4.5 Nikkor SW 90mm to his Graphic view or Grundlach. Or perhaps even a modern view camera to fit the lens!

We will probably be able to make it to John's house Friday PM and then go out to dinner with the group.

ok so if you were a bag of tent poles.......... where would you hide?
I would turn myself inside out and pin myself to the mantle in plain sight. Barring that, I'd have stayed in the back of the jeep where you left me after the last trip, hoping you'd forget me. How about stuffed into the same bag as the tent? Was jbannow looking hungry when you were breaking down the tent on the last trip? Do the tent poles in any way resemble bacon? Did they get botox injections and convert into a tripod like the one you're always giving more attention to, and running off with every morning?

Good luck finding them, and I also have a tent to lend if you need one. I may even be able to find the poles given a little notice.

I have some 120 Acros, but not sure how many rolls. No 4x5 Acros. Will bring what I have. Spent 6 hours in doctors' offices, imaging rooms, and travel back and forth today, so I'll arrive less well prepared than I'd hoped. Meaning about the same as always. (Everyone's OK here, negative on the injuries we were ruling out.) Saxophone recital this evening.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, including the new folks, young and old.
