What sort of things does one usually find at a Photrama swap meet? The South Bend-Mishawaka-Elkhart area hasn't had a photo swap meet for over a decade now.

One person’s perspective: Others please give your view.

This show has gotten a lot smaller over the years, but we would love to have you visit. Usually there is a heavy concentration of 35mm gear from the 50s through the 80s and more recent digital. There will be some tables with medium format, some 4x5 stuff and occasionally some antique cameras of all formats. I used to go for one vendor who always brought four cartons of books at reasonable prices. He no longer comes. Others in this group have had more success than I, so please comment.

Darn! I'll be out of town. Over the years, I have gotten NOS 5x7 holders, rh designs darkroom timer, lightware bag, zone VI brilliant paper and other odds and ends. Last time, a guy had a bunch of Canon promotional stuff and I ended up with several new lens cleaning cloths, lens wraps and a golf umbrella. I have found that if I'm looking for something in particular, I never find it. Also, lots of filters and lens caps. As John mentioned, it's getting smaller.

I received a postcard announcing there is a Photorama swap event, Sunday, Sept. 1, Cleveland-Richfield Days Inn, 4742 Brecksville Rd. Richfield, about half a mile south of the OH Turnpike entrance. This is right across the street from where we had Sunday breakfast. No fee is shown on the post card, but it is usually $5 or $2 with student ID.

I just read that there will be another photorama on Dec 1 at the Cleveland-Richfield hotel. Any thoughts on this? Anyone know who the good vendors are? Collectors? Anyone going?

I have been wanting to apologize to all. We have been going through a bit of a rough patch and simply haven’t been able to schedule a Fall Gathering. My hope is that we will start up again in the Spring.

Dolly and I both had something viral that layed us low for a month. Dolly’s 93 year old mother fell and broke her pelvic. Dolly has been the chief caretaker, baby sitter, insurance battler and therapist. Gabby, our four year old Labrador was diagnosed with cancer, a mast cell turmor. She goes in Wednesday for her second surgery totaling $3000 with no pet medical insurance. We are hopeful for all of this and doing our best. We hope to see you soon.

John

John, hope things look better for you all soon! One of our cats was also diagnosed with a tumor in the last few weeks, but unfortunately surgery isn't an option for him. Hope Gabby and Mom get well soon.

We miss you folks, and hope to see you all in the spring.

Hang in there, John. Better days are ahead.

I hope that everyone recovers quickly, John! Enjoy a peaceful autumn and winter and one way or another, we'll see you next year!

Mike

It's funny the day I send you an email wondering about the fall meet up and I don't check apug posts and here you are. I do hope things get better soon for you and Dolly. Look forward to spring.

I know very well how much a part of the family dogs are - I hope Gabby comes through all of it healthy. One of our mutts had a mast cell tumor removed a couple of years ago. And I wish for a quick recovery for you, Dolly, and Dolly's mom, too.
Jeff, sorry to hear about your cat's tumor.

Just found out. John and Dolly my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face so many things.
Long for your smiles and laughter again soon, in better days.

John and Dolly,
Still praying for better days ahead. Hope you had a nice thanksgiving.

If you and others are up to it, come out in January and do some cold weather photos in Cleveland. Sue and I are doing the Frozen Film Shoot up your all's way this winter. All are invited.

Sounds like chilly fun. Let us know how we can help.

We got a surprise the other day. Looking out our den window, there was a woodpecker beating away at a near by tree. Suddenly a Pileated Woodpecker swooped in. We were not sure it was that until we realized it was so big the tree was leaning over.

John & Dolly

Sounds like fun to me. I'll do my best to be there.

Thanks for organizing,

-- Mark
