There are many waterfalls nearby. This one is unnamed; probably because it is only 6" tall. Kind of reminds me of Ansel Adams "Fern Spring"

Dale,

Great pictures. Thank you. It is always interesting to see how another person visualizes the same geography. No one right or wrong, just interesting view points. Thank you for putting them in the thread. I hope they will encourage new folks to join us and try their view points. I hope other regulars will add their work to show us their thoughts.

Just a technical thing that may not show on your computer since you posted them,
Attachment 71774 and Attachment 71775 don’t show images on my screen. Hope we can see these at your convenience.

I'll re post those, they are not showing up for me either.

One thing I wanted to emphasize is that no matter how many times one visits the sites around here, they can be dramatically different on each occasion and repeated visits are always warranted in my opinion. For example, the cave only looked like that probably for a few hours that day until all the ice melted.

Here is the cave:

Here is a repost of the "Fueling our Future" service station. Again, it was different each time I visited it (in fact I used to get gas there). Now I think it may be totally gone.

Much bigger, and it shoots film.

If you have the bellows length and want to try it while you are here, I have a 600mm Fuji C. It is on a Sinar board but we can take it off for the occasion. The 450mm is close to 464mm normal for 7x17. Perhaps the 600mm is closer to normal for you. I believe you measure the diagonal of the film.

It has 24" of bellows, and it takes Sinar boards, so that would be perfect!

I'm planning on being there.

Chris, That is just great. I am so flattered that you drive clear out here from CT for this event. Thank you.

John

Pretty sure I can make it.

At this point we are taking firm maybes. Glad you will be coming. I also heard from and responded to mfohl. Referrals are welcome. Thank you.

John

OK I'll throw down a firm maybe, could be and hope too. Life throws a lot of curve balls, but I/we hope to be there this time. Miss you guys.

Lee (yea that other one)

Welcome to you both or three if Sue comes. We have a new Gathering forgiveness policy. You miss one event but you come to the next, all is forgiven. Sleep well tonight with that knowledge.

Dolly, the Girls and I just walked down by the campout area between rain storms. Good news, the black berries or black raspberries, what ever they are, are beginning ripen. Yummm. Bring your own ice cream to go with or stop at the Country Maid.

Bring your own Deep Woods OFF spray or wipes. The mosquitos were pretty rough.

For those coming to John's in a few weeks. Mark has posted a Seal Dry 210 mount press for sale here in Columbus on this forum. If anyone is interested in it, I can bring it with me to John's. Let me know.

Robert,

You might want to post a link or at least say what model. I looked and didn't find the post, probably my error.
I have a model 210 that is good up to and including 16x20, or two 7x17s at a time if someone local wants to see one. Mine is not for sale though.

John

my post is edited. It is a 210 model posted in the Great Lakes Region forum.

If I can fit it in my small car I would be interested. What are the outside dimensions roughly?

Cheap hotel room booked. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.

Mike

Seal Dry Mount Press is roughly 26in x 22in x 10in. These are outside measurements. It is best moved with 2 people.

I believe it is something like 20 x 25, but I'll check. I'm thinking that not the dimensions, but rather the weight, is the main issue.

Chris,
If you still have that Civic hatch back I think two people could slide it in the back. I will not be one of the two. It is heavier than I can do these days, but everyone else here is younger than I am. Correction, Savannah is 94 in dog years.

John

)) hatchback is perfect! I'll be bringing it in my Kia Soul

Mike,

Glad you are coming. I was thinking of your comment on the MWLA forum about being interested in the bridges of the OH Trnpk. and Rt. 271. They are great, but have you given any thought to the bridges in the Flats? They range from current construction to a long time ago. Peter and I just were photographing at the Columbus Street lift bridge. Several of us had lunch there in May at Hooples. That lift bridge was installed during FDR’s time in office and torn down last month. The old is being salvage and the new is being built just up river. There is a swing bridge and several other types of lift bridge, some active, some covered in vines. Just a thought.
