The Mamiya shot was my favorite—because of the composition, not the medium. But I'm also glad that it turned out to be the film one!

We have Cicadas here in Iowa USA. They must be on different schedules as seems like most years we have some. One of the most beautiful sounds to my ear. I may not be a good example as I like the sounds of a good railway and distant trucks on the highway.

The only time I heard them in Canada, was in Montreal. I also like the sound of railways... but that bloody two long, one short, one long horn at 2 in the am is a bit much! 😄

Out of the 30 odd species in Japan, they live a few years underground, then for only a few weeks above ground.

East coast US has 13 year and 17 year cicadas. Some years they get together. So how do they tell each other apart??

In Japan, they all have a different sound. My favourite one comes out later in Summer.

Beautiful place! I like the one at 3:18 the most. Nice contrast between old and new and how the moving clouds support the composition...

The Cicadas in Summer in Southern Oklahoma were like a mighty organ as the sun fell.

I used to love listening to how their calls would diverge, flange and then eventually synchronize like a mighty, thrumming engine, only to diverge slowly once again and restart the cycle.

If you were lucky and near water, the Bullfrogs would accompany with their bass line. It was really quite loud sometimes, but always pleasant.

I'd like to hear that again, if it even exists anymore.

Don't really have many Cicadas here...

Birds seem to like to eat Cicadas.
