So a little while back I picked up amy old Leica III and a 50mm Summicron but was also looking to get an Elmar as they are much more compact when collapsed. Instead I found this camera and had to buy it. It's a early 1930's Nagel Volenda folding camera with the very same Leitz Elmar 50mm f3.5 lens I was looking for. It shoots 127 film with an image about 50% larger then 35mm. So not as big as my Rolleiflex but larger then my Leica. It's roughly the same size image as the new Hasselblad and Fuji mirrorless medium format cameras that costs a fortune. I'm surprised Leitz even made lenses for other manufactures and that the 50mm Elmar can cover the frame. It's in pretty amazing shape for its age and appears to be fully functional with a clean lens. I just ordered some 127 film from freestyle photo to see how good the pictures come out. Hope you guys like this weird old camera, I can't wait to use it.

Here it is next to my Leica III. It's smaller in pretty much every regard to it. Remember thone screw mount Leicas is a small cameras in their own right. I'm a big fan of quirky old cameras so I had to pick it up.

It's not too bad for a Leica lens. The lack of a rangefinder probably doesn't help it's value. Would be worth much more on a proper Leica camera. Just an interesting camera most people don't know about.

Indeed, exactly what Leica aficionado's price up and what not is sometimes a bit vague, a Leica II from that age would definitely be worth a lot more

The problem with Leica stuff is they become too collectable to use. I like mine a lot but I'd never pay the going price for it.

I was actually looking to get one before I got my Leica III. I kind of regret that now as it's hard to use it with glasses but I really like the results with the old Summicron. I've got a love/hate relationship with mine.

It's also a half frame camera (if you have two red windows on the back) which gives you 16 shots on a 127 roll! I love mine.

Blue Moon Camera sells the Blue Murano color 160 (which I believe is respooled Portra) in 127 format: http://automat.bluemooncamera.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=60_68
Thank you for the information. I definitely need to get some of that film. I found it odd that the only color film I could find was slide film. Especially given the lack of exposure control of lot of those cheap 127 cameras that are everywhere.
