Is it possible to use this substance as a color developer? As far as I know, it was mentioned under the name CD-8.

Possible for paper, but it has some drawbacks on film.

CD-1, CD-8, Original Fuji chemistry, same exposition and color filtration (it is possible to get uniform colors with color head):

It's legs are too small and it had high parasitic dye migration which leads to lower resolution. The second problem - it has very strong and unpleasant odor in developing solution, if they are heated to 100 F which is missing with other colour developers. I think, it is not from the main substance but because of impurities from synthesis way, perhaps other samples may not have it.
