I received some old photo paper and amid the boxes was an open pack of 20x24 sheets without a box. The paper was wrapped in black paper like old Agfa papers. The sheets are brown and are packed face to face with a tissue interleave between each. I placed it in warm water to see if it was carbon tissue but it didn't dissolve. It doesn't show any change on exposure to light. Would anyone know what this could be?

Kodak used to pack color paper that way. If color, it may be reversal color paper which is often tinted brown to red. But, if it is B&W and brown, it has gone bad.

Its a single weight paper base. I remember reversal RC, was there a reversal paper based material?

I don't think this is a viable paper. Try sticking a sheet in developer in the dark. If it turns black or gray it is bad.

Hi Pinholebender,
When you say the paper is brown, do you mean it looks like this:

(White shells photographed under tungsten lights left in for colour reference!)

If so, you're most likely looking at Kodak Studio Proof Paper.
