My very first Retina was a Retina I (010) with an uncoated Kodak Ektar, which I bought at a rummage sale back in the early 70's. I took it fall steelhead fishing with me since it folded so flat and fit in my pocket nicely. I used a full 24 exp roll of Kodak Kodacolor on the first trip. When I got the shots back I couldn't believe the beautiful rendering of the Fall colors. It certainly didn't make any difference whether that lens was coated or not. Sadly, I sold it for something fancier and better. Actually, I'd say just fancier because you couldn't get much better as I found out later. I owned and still own some of the later Retina cameras, but they just aren't as compact and handy as the Retina I's and even the Ia's were.

The Schneider Xenon was found on cameras intended for sale in the North American market, while the Rodenstock Heligon was found on cameras intended for sale in the European (and rest of the world?) market.
Hove you got any idea why?

Maybe they did them in separate batches and Schneider quoted lower on the ones with non-metric markings.
