I just had to show it off.
I bought a trip 35 cheap from ebay that had the red-flag issue and thought that it was worth risking $9.00 even with my meager camera repair skills. (nonexistent, more like)
Well, with a little bit of light cleaning and lubing the linkage, the camera works and so I decided to spend another $8.00 on a red Aki-Ashi skin kit.

I'm very happy with the way this came out. The kit was very easy to use.

I recently attended my step-son's wedding and all I took was my M6 and a trip and a bucket of film. I shot the trip much more than the M6, the experience is nicer for me in certain circumstances.

That looks great! I'd like my Canon QL17 to look that good.

Really nice!
I'm partial to red and black, so I've done up my beloved OM-2N:

The ONLY bummer is that I have a "lazy-red-flag" where it will only come up if you push the shutter slowly and the rest of the time it "wants" to come up but stops short.

Any good ideas about how to fix that would be welcome.
I think I got it fixed. I took the top off and gave the linkage a drop of lighter fluid and that seemed to do the trick

I have been sticking black tape over any shiny or coloured parts on every camera I have ever owned over the years and after viewing this thread I know it was the right decision.

Given the thread, here is my two cents.

Recovered.jpg

Both recovered with material from CameraLeather, always a perfect fit and easy to apply. The glue has held up for many years. The Trip has the bottom of the line synthetic material (because it is just a Trip) and the OM has the genuine lizard. In retrospect the natural leathers do seem to pick up a lot more dirt and oil from the skin.

I was carrying the OM at the Great Dorset Steam Fair this past summer and showed it to the "enthusiast" that was there displaying his collection of cameras. He berated me for recovering it, as it was no longer "original". But as he didn't have a single Olympus in a rather extensive and diverse collection, I put little stock in his opinion.

That looks great. I'm waiting delivery on a Voigtlander Vito B and I will put on a new red leatherette on it from an Ebay seller.

The Trip is a nice little camera. I have two and may have to dig one out and run a few rolls through it. I used to use it for color slides. Amazing what a simple auto exposure system can do.

Those hot shoes are a pain in the a$$. They are always catching on the lining of the case as you take the camera in and out; the camera is much sleeker without the shoe.

Having cut my teeth on an OM-2, when I got the 4 and 4T I spent quite a while trying to figure out how to get the damn shoe off. I finally took it up to Photosphere (the now defunct Oly guys here in Dallas) where he verified that the shoe is not removable. So I stuck one of those hot shoe caps in it and covered the whole thing with black duct tape. Somewhere I've got a bag full of shoes for the OM 1 and 2.

Four years ago I foolishly tried to put a new green suede skin on my Trip 35. The foolishness was attempting this on Saint Patrick's day . No sooner had I started than the door bell rang and a long story short, the shamrock was drowned and the camera skin forgotten. It's still there in the cupboard.

BTW, the OP's red Trip 35 looks great and best of luck with it.
