Group Buy of Sanders' Book

I contacted Sanders directly with a view to obtaining a signed copy of his book. At my suggestion, he has generously offered to accommodate a group APUG buy of his book, which would include signed editions for those who want them, and an reduced price and direct shipping.

I don't know Sanders personally but, I suspect like many others here, have admired his work and appreciate the initiative he's taken to publish a bound volume of his photographs and related essays. I'd be prepared to co-ordinate a "group buy" of Sanders book for those interested - although it might make more sense for someone in the U.S. to do so (I'm in Canada).

Please shoot me a PM, or leave a message on this thread, so I can get some idea of number of people interested.

We need at least ten of us for Blurb to give Sanders a discount, which he'll pass along to us. Three takers so far; who's next?!

My copy arrived yesterday  Sanders, this is an excellent book - I've really enjoyed reading your writing and your portraits are superb too (especially when seen en masse like this). Although Blurb is quite expensive the production quality is impressive. Congratulations on creating such a fine presentation of your work.

The group buy is done and gone. But
if you want a signed copy, I will be happy
to oblige -- buy a copy and have Blurb
ship it directly to me, and I will sign and
reship it. Contact me by PM to arrange it.

I've received my copy a few weeks ago. Very nice work and an enjoyable book.

Amazingly, to me, it remains on the
Blurb bestseller list. I would like to
find a conventional house to pick
it up and publish it -- if anyone has
any thoughts about that, let me know.

Look on Amazon and compile a list of publishers who are into this kind of stuff. Then you have to talk to one after the other, call them up, bug them, meet them at book fairs, start to know them. Industry success rates are discouraging, 1 in 100 book proposals make it, but you got something special here, so you never know.

The birth of my son Charlie on September 16 has
sidetracked my efforts to find a conventional
publisher for Double Exposures. In the meantime,
I've put out a second volume, in an edition limited
to 100 copies, called Unemployed:

http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1117625

It is meant to be a companion to Double Exposures
-- over 50 portraits that I could not include in the
first book because of Blurb's page limits, or because
they simply did not fit in the narrative of the book,
but that I had wanted to share in print in some way.
The book also contains text that gives a brief account
of how I came to shoot and write Double Exposures.

If I do find a proper publisher for Double Exposures
I will enlarge it to include some (not all) of the portraits
in this volume as well.
