Oh, words are hard to come by right now. Ok, here goes. I came home from school today and there was a package that Laney(girlfriend), had signed for, yep you guessed it my 14x17 and 4 new holders. I mean wow, I knew it was going to be new but was in no way prepare for how, beautiful, sturdy, and light. Plus it is my first brand new camera well except for an F80 but that was along time ago. On top of all that they sent padded film holder bag and a padded case for the camera.

:D

Congratulations! Please a few more details: who is the manufacturer of this gorgeous instrument and how did you order it?
Gary

Gary, it is a Chamonix, I just didn't want to start the kinda post that was on here before. The film holders are beautiful also with metal darkslides.
Phillip

Wow! Gorgeous. How long did it take them to get it to you? Wondering what the wait period is.

http://photo.fengniao.com/articles/1/54/10721_1.htm

I did a search and this is what I found, my Chinese is not up todate but it says they have a wide range of models to choose from. I couldn't understand the wording for the distributors list.

I hope you have much enjoyment from yours, I have the Shen Hao 4x5 model and it is very nice and well built.

Phillip,

That's a beauty. I live in Southern California and I saw the thread about Chamonix and also read about the camera in View Camera Magazine. I asked Hugo Zhang some general questions about the Chamonix 7 x 17 and he offered to come by my office and show it to me. I took him up on that and he came out a few days later with the camera and a film holder. I shut my office door and he set the camera up on a tripod, installed the lens and let me play with it for about 15-20 minutes. It was extremely solid and very well made. Hugo answered all of my questions and was very excited about the camera and its prospects with the ULF community.

I have a 5 x 7 Shen Hao and plan to make this my "small-format" camera when I get the new 7 x 17.

Have fun with your camera!!

Rick

I will the website is www.chamonixcamera.com, like you said Hugo helped me get this one. I'll let you know more when my lens and film come in.
Phillip

Phillip,

I am so happy that you like the camera and film holders. Just one small correction, the darkslides of the holders are made of carbon fiber, it feels like metal, but is stronger and lighter and more expensive. Please let me know how you feel when you use this camera and post some pictures you make with it when you have them.

Rick,

Thank you for your kind words. Your "dark beauty" is waiting.

Jim Galli,

Custom made version is 6 months waiting. No waiting for 7x17, 8x20, 12x20 and 20x24 sizes.

Thanks for the great information.

Hello Phillip,

Are you still looking for some 14x17? I have a box of JandC 400 (11/07) and am going to be in MT in early June. Could ship it from there. If so PM or email me.

Cheers,
Clarence

This is a camera I am looking at.

Phillip,

I regret to tell you there's a spelling mistake in the thread title: You've forgotten the "c" in "addiction".

:D

chamonix ULF

What is the cost of camera and film holders?

:D The one I chose is $3700.00 and the holders are right around $224.00 a piece. I'm looking at getting 10 right now.

Hello, Alogan the cost of the 14x17 was 3706 nut with 4 film holders it came out to 5485.
Phillip

Aren't they finely finished? And the design is handsome too. ULF couldn't be more stylish.:D

Phillip,

What size are the lensboards? What is the maximum bellows length?

Thanks,
Will

Hello, the lensboards are 4.5" and the max bellows is 800mm.

Bummer... That's a tiny lensboard for a camera that size.
