I am happy to announce my first one man show. It only took 65 years, retirement and six college courses, but it feels great now. Please attend
and introduce yourself if the distance is reasonable for you.

Macro Metallic Spirals - Illusions of Grandeur

Twenty one, 11x14 inch, black and white photographs, that play with
metallic spirals, scale, reflection and illusion. The negatives were made
with a 4x5 camera, developed and printed in the darkroom your ideas
helped me build. Thank you.

Way to go John! I'm excited for you!! Enjoy your opening!!!

(During the run of the show, try to get in there after hours all by yourself...drink it in...soak it up...really LOOK at your work...you'll walk away changed).

Thank you all. It is great to find such support from the family of APUG.
It is an exciting and happy moment. I wish the same good feelings to all
working to approach their first.

I'll send post cards saying "wish you were here" and you will be.
It will be the cheapest air fare coming and going.

Congradulations, John! I hope it all goes well for you. Please don't take this as a been there done that but I remember my first show and there was a group of about 20 lesbians that rolled in from Minneapolis/St. Paul. I had my wife and children along with me and they were really taken aback (by the sheer numbers). The questions were interesting, thought provoking and all and all was a really great experience. Enjoy your show John. All the best

Chuck,

Thank you. I have to tear down the show by 6 PM Friday, Feb. 25.
I will be there for the opening Monday 6-8 PM and of course the tear down.
If you are going to be in town we would love to see you. My wife graduated UA 1968.
We can schedule a meet off line if you like.

Congratulations John, make sure you enjoy every single minute of it and ignore the ignorant ones. I think your a much better person than me as I'd have given up long before you waited!

TPPhotoq, thank you for the congratulations.

Please understand that it has not been a long wait. I have just started. For me retirement was the opportunity to reinvent myself from logistics software salesman
to creative photographer. This was a hobby lurking in the wings since I graduated from college the first time, forty years ago. The hobby has exploded into a full
time joy of college courses, platinum workshops, a darkroom, Friends of Photography, APUG, and growth in incremental steps from 35mm to 8x10. Retirement is a passage
in life from which many do not recover. Retirement for me has been a creative and exciting explosion. I just hope I have the opportunity to keep at it.

It is wonderful to have such encouragement. Thank you.

John
