My films have disappeared!

... and sometimes packages just get misdirected. I’m watching the tracking on a package that’s just been sent to a post office 1500 miles in the wrong direction. Seen this before, but rarely; at some point it will get put on the right truck!

Tracking numbers are one of the most useful improvements to USPS service they’ve ever made.

The check cleared and so, all is well. I have no idea why it took fully two and a half weeks.
I called the lab and they said they had an unprecedented backlog - so, I guess that could explain it.
I have never had any problems with the USPS. They are, and always have been, the most cost effective and most reliable option.

I'm breathing easier today.

Lesson: Never ship anything of any value without tracking number. Best values are those fixed size Priority Mail boxes. They come with tracking numbers and deliver in 2 days.

Kodak had a monopoly on Kodachrome processing in Europe.

Not in modern times.
