My Bronica lens got unsprung, needs help.

Sniff ... One of my favourite Bronica lens, 180mmF4.5, looks like the main spring has unsprung itself loose. It rattles with a nice quiet loose spring sound. Anyone know of a good repair shop to send this to? I would like a place in Canada but would appreciate a shop that actually works on these lenses and have the parts on hand for repairs. I have lost track of who even does warantee work in Canada for Bronica anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you cannot find a repair shop in Canada you may want to send the lens to Tamron USA, 10 Austin Blvd, Commack, NY 11725. phone: 631-858-8400 fax: 631-543-5666 Tamron does some repairs on Bronica.

I admit that my background in engineering and general tinkering gives me a strong bias toward repairing stuff, but given the current prices of some of this gear used, the most economical approach might be buying another one. When something in the shutter release interlocking got stuffed in my SQ-A, I picked up another body in mint condition for $80 -- hard to believe that would have bought enough technician time to repair the original.

(Once I get a big enough pile of disabled victims, I may get out my eye loupe and jeweler's screwdrivers. )

Got to agree.

When I tried to buy a replacement crank handle for my ETRSI the service part cost 80% of a bargain body with a WL finder and the crank handle from KEH. Didn't take much thinking to order the whole body instead.

The 180mm is a hard lens to find and is still relatively expensive, compared to like the 150mm. Good luck, Elvis, with getting it fixed. Tamron bought Bronica a few years ago so they are the factory repair service. They overhauled my SQA body about 4-5 years ago.

I have a few feelers out (more now with info from this group .. thanks all), so am waiting to see. So far, Vancam is out and KOH Camera is a yes. Waiting on Amplis in Canada to say whatever . I do like the lens so I have been resisting the urge to attack with screwdrivers, due to it having the between the lens groups shutter assembly. Tempering the "take no prisoners" repair attitude for now .
