My 1972 F2 sounds very different than my 1977 F2

I've read somewhere that shutter speeds within 30% are considered "accurate" for mechanical shutters. That's 1/3rd of a stop. I would expect electronically-controlled shutters to have greater accuracy as they age, at least until the electronics begin to fail.

Nikon specs them @ 1/2 a stop. According to the data I have compiled, one can exceed the allowable factory tolerance with just 1000 actuations with this type of shutter.

My first thought was that the different emission control standards would result in different sounds.

Then I remembered the thread was about cameras. :whistling:

Anyone who says "Sover has fobidden me from buying" has already drunk the Kool aid. Not that Sover is wrong!! But the quote says essentially, "I've put my personal brain into a bucket and let someone else do my thinking for me". Also, 13 F2's? Are-you-crazy?

You're welcome! If I can help further, don't hesitate to ask ...

(Sover has fobidden me from buying any more cameras from especially hot & humid climes, such as the southern U.S. or Asia, unless there is proof that the gear has been environmentally protected.)

If that's the case, then I guess I should just hang it up then. It's all over with. The hot and humid climate which I was born into and still reside in is just too much. And I guess I should remove myself from his waiting list as well.

Sover would of course never presume to dictate any client's behavior. But I shall always hold his advice in very high regard.

Maybe Sover hasn't heard of Air Conditioning. The humidity around here frequently exceeds 90%, but I don't store my gear outside as a rule.
