Feel free to move this, but since it pertains to film negatives I though this little story could fit here so here it goes. My son hasn't been all that interested in what I do with film but sometimes he hangs around the garage as I am working on developing. But this weekend we went out with my Bronica SQ-AI and Fuji GW690III to shoot a few test images of him for a project. I only had Ektar 100 and I don't really like how the skin tones come out on him so we were just messing around. Anytime we can go out and take pictures together is a win!

After I developed the film I was showing him one of the scans and the first thing he said was "look at the detail on those". Now, this is something he has never heard me say so I was surprised and amused that he noticed it. The other thing he said which I thought was pretty cool was when we were looking at the negatives on my light table I showed him that the colors were "backwards" He then pulled out his iPhone and said this app has a color inversion setting and then pointed the iphone camera at the negative and showed me the positive! He's never really looked at negatives so this was a pretty cool that he was able to make the connection. It actually looked pretty good so now I have a new way of prejudging my negatives without breaking out the scanner. Just though I would share..

Cheers,

Ned

I don't have anything relevant, filmwise, but I did end up having to take my son (7) and Daughter (10) on a recent shoot. My daughter has worked with me before so she knew some of what I was going to ask, but my son... his first time. No, hold the flash this way. No, don't cover the sensor or it won't work right. Why are you pointing the flash at the wall when I asked you to point it at the ceiling? Where are you? Are we on the same planet? Do you speak English?

He's a good kid but focus is NOT his strength.

With my daughter it's actually fun... No YOU go down into the creepy basement first, there may be a homeless man down there...

What app did he use? None of the apps I've found give real time negative images.

iPhone has "filmSCANNER" which works pretty well.

You can also use it to make art when taking normal pictures... Lol

I'm sorry, but your thread title is a touch annoying. I don't have a 13 year old (but I do have a 17 year old). If I did, he would be smarter than your son. Why? I have no idea. I am just the sort of dad who rises to this challenge... that's all.
In more concrete news, my 17 year old can pin your 13 year old within 10 seconds of the first round of the match.

My insta-family* 4 year old is smarter still, she takes pictures with a tablet of my taking pictures of her on film... Documenting fim awesomeness is of course way smarter  haha

* insta-family = girlfriends daughter not made by my genetics.

Inverting of colors is a built in setting under the accessibility tab within the iphone settings app. You don't need an app to get this feature. When enabled everything is inverted, including whatever apps you have open. So it is very useful if viewing say a post in tapatalk where an image is posted but not inverted. Or when you turn on the camera app.

Gah, ok I haven't used the app in a while but it sucks now... Don't bother...

But the iPhone inverting doesn't help since you can't save the file in reverse, only view it...

Anyway at least that does work properly it seems...

The inverting feature doesn't save as your said stone, if you want adjustments like that I'd probably look at iPhoto since its free. It should have that ability to invert and save. I only use the accessibility invert feature to take a quick look at things on the screen or on a light table.

My daughter is twelve and she showed that app to me months ago... ha ha. And she takes pictures with my K1000, develops and prints them herself.

My son Sheldon had his masters in theoretical physics at 13. His buddies Raj, Leonard and Howard are almost equally talented

Oh ya--my son Dougie was an MD at thirteen.

Oh please Howard only has a masters degree, it's only marginally better than getting a GED...
