I don’t know the reputation, just the symptoms and causes of issues in imaging devices. If you were curious, you could ask him what he uses for lubricant in a CLA, then cross-reference against NASA’s outgassing database at https://outgassing.nasa.gov/ . Materials with Total Mass Loss (TML) < 1% and Collected Volatile Condensable Materials (CVCM) < 0.1% are considered suitable for use in optical devices as they will not form haze on the optical surfaces..

Could have been something in the box/case/bag the camera was stored in, if the haze was only on external surfaces. Haze on interior surfaces are due to something inside the assembly.

Regards,
Jason

It was definitely on the inside of the lens. If it had been the outside I would have attributed it to something on my end.

Not my problem at all ... - OP kingbuzzie asked if there are any multicoated filters for bay II.
To my knowledge Hoya used to make them I don't know if they still do, but I don't think they will solve his problem

I have a Yashica Mat 124 and have never had flare problems. I don't shoot into the sun and just use a hood. I've seen these threads on flocking and I'm not sure why it would be necessary. Would Yashica really produce a camera that bounces extraneous light around inside it?

Alright, I do appreciate some of the replies here, but I think this posting has gotten off track. I really was just curious if mamiya c had multicoated lenses available. Anyway, I just noticed I have a hoya nxt x2 flare filter on the front of the lens. My mistake for not noticing that before

I used a Mamiya C 330F and all the lenses for about thirty years and most of the later blue dot lenses are multi-coated, but they still benefit from using them with the correct Mamiya lens hood.in tricky lighting conditions.

Not intentionally, but it seems the paint they used did not absorb light that well, especially with age. My first Yashica tlr was a Yashica 24, it had some flare problems that were driving me crazy, but after I flocked it, the difference was night and day. Yashica did make improvements with baffles with the 124G series.

Graham Patterson (he's a member here) on his Mamiya Cxx system resources about lens coating :

''The chrome lenses were single coated, and the black series had single coatings which may have extended to various lens elements. Some late black series lenses have had multi-coating, but there is a lack of substantive evidence as to when it was introduced, and on which lenses.
The 55mm, 80mm S, 105mm DS, and 180mm Super are the most likely candidates, as these were later or more extreme designs.''

Looking at this thread's title, I am pretty confident though that none of the Mamiya C lenses for the TLRs feature mulitcoating.
Isn't that something to do with a strange haircut.:D:whistling::wink:.
I used to use my C330 to photograph weddings, and took a lot of photos where the subjects were backlit with ambient light, and lit from the front with fill flash. With a little bit of care, I had very little problem with flare.

Are modern multicoated bay-1 filters available?

I don't use bay one, I use series VI slip on adapter that will take the lens hood and one filter. My filters are dated, some are Kodak dating from the 50s or 60s, others are newer from the 80s or so, these may be multicoated. I don't know if anyone still makes filters in series sizes.
