I took the liberty of copying the following post that Per Volquartz had entered elsewhere. I intend on being there...hope to see many of you there as well. Should be a great time of good fellowship, photographing and sharing of knowledge. Per has previously informed me that participants may spend as little or as much time as they wish.

I came across this other post by Per Volquartz regarding the Mt Shasta Free Workshop. I am taking the liberty of copying and posting since it covers a bit more information.

Looks like this will be a great event for photographers who work with large format cameras! (Or for serious photographers, period!)

Best news is that its FREE!

The Mt. Shasta Large Format Workshop in Northern California

General Info:

Monday October 6th through Sunday October 12 (You can check in Sunday afternoon, October 5th after 3PM)

Exact place to meet and places to stay etc. will be emailed around August 18 or so...

Place: Mt. Shasta, Northern California. Environmental portraiture (daylight / night time electronic flash), composition, improving and developing your personal vision, marketing, website building, guerilla marketing using the Net and no money, contrast masks for printing, selling your work, and much more... (incl. the usual stuff such as view camera usage, zone system, processing, Pyro, mounting / matting of prints, etc...) Sponsored by Photo Vision Magazine http://www.photovisionmagazine.com

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So, what's the big deal about another Free Workshop and what's in it for me?"

Well, first of all our Free workshops enable photographers to learn and interact with professionals who have years of experience in large format photography - without you having to empty your piggy bank. (All you have to do is get there, bring film, and pay for your own food and accommodations = motel or camping...)

You will find that our Free workshops are a great way to learn from others who like yourself are dedicated to - and love large format photography.

Part of the time at our workshops is spent shooting in spectacular locations; part of the time attending presentations covering everything from technique to image content.

One of the best aspects of our Free workshops is the friendship you establish with others from around the state or country.

This will not be the last workshop you ever need! On the contrary!

Hopefully you'll get so fired up about photography that you'll be out shooting whenever you can, visiting every photo exhibit in your area when the opportunity arises, and participate in every workshop you can possibly make it to. (And check out new posts on Photo.net at least twice a day!)

The more you think, breathe and live photography, the better your vision gets!

At the Mt. Shasta Workshop you will get to know a variety of photographers who serve as instructors, either for several days or for a single presentation. So far the list includes Harvey Spector, Donald Miller and myself. In addition we will have others who will be there to help with logistics etc...such as Frank LaHorgue...

We are trying to get more photographers / artists to participate and should have a longer list for you in August!

If you have in depth knowledge about a photographic subject matter or a unique technique that you would like to share with others please let us know. We would love to have you give a presentation to the group!

So far Photo Vision Magazine has offered to sponsor this event and will offer free magazine samples to everyone. We have contacted a great number of manufacturers / distributors and hope to have a good list for you in August as well!

Make plans to participate in this great workshop in October. Tell your friends about it! Come for a day or two or stay for the whole week!

It will be great - and how can you beat the price?

So, let us know if you can make it! (The more the merrier - AND the more the easier it will be for us to get serious sponsors for this and future Free workshops!)

I just received the following email from Per Volquartz regarding the Free Large Format Workshop at Mt Shasta California. If you have a couple of days or more and want to experience the fellowship and sharing of technique and information available, plan on attending. The cost (other then accomodations) is right...

October will be here before you know it!

The workshop will run from Monday, October 6 - to noon, Sunday
October 12. You may like to attend the entire time - or just for a
couple of days - its all up to you. Some people may like to arrive
Sunday the 5th in the afternoon. That's fine too. Someone will be at
the camp from Sunday mid - afternoon...

We have talked to the people at the KOA campground in Mt. Shasta.
They have a bunch of tent sites and will try to put all of us
together at the same location.
The campground has hot showers, clean rest rooms (supposedly),
laundry facilities, a small store (although restaurants and stores
are within a few blocks of the campground). (The pool will be empty -
darn - had planned to process everyone's Pyro negs in large batches!)

The price per site per night is $16.50, although we will be getting a
discount (10%). If you want to stay in the campground be sure to tell
them that you are part of the group of photographers (ask for Cary).
Some sites will accommodate two tents / people (which will bring the
cost down further - 50%?).

The KOA campground also has 4 cabins. These cabins do not have
showers or restroom facilities. You bring to own linen or sleeping
bag. Some cabins have two rooms.

Please call KOA in Mt. Shasta - ask for Cary - and make reservations.
Phone: 1 800 562-3617

If you prefer more civilized accommodations Mt. Shasta has plenty of
motels and Bed & Breakfast.

Check out Mt. Shasta on Google for more info.

We will have a lot more info in a couple of weeks! - Incl. schedule,
what to bring, etc, etc....
ALSO, if you have any large format photography friends, who may want
to come too, let us know!

Per Volquartz

Looking forward to seeing you at Mt. Shasta!
