Old, 2015.

Betoota bus stairs.

This bus has seen better days, the nearest paved road when it being used was around 400km's away, not to mention creek crossings and stuff like that.

Old, but taken sometime in the last year on my lowly Pentax 90WR with T-MAX 400.

New, exposed yesterday. 😀

Ramping.

I half expected to see a security guard turn up, but as I had everything all set up and ready to go, I only needed to compose, focus then press the cable release. Even so, I probably spent 10 minutes which included waiting for a line of automobiles moving to get blur.

Here is my entry for the "New" catagory. First time shooting Ektachrome E100. Shot taken from the top of Natural Bridge, in Slade KY. Fastest I've ever gotten film developed and scans delivered! Unfortunately, now I might have a developed a bit of an addiction to medium format...This was shot on my still very new-to-me 645N

Wolfram, that is a superb picture, and yes, an addiction to medium format is surely coming.

Nothing beats a good film format other than a larger format; wait until you try large format.

Feeding or creating such addictions is part of the raison d'être of the MSA.
And I agree Wolfram - that is very fine, as well as being a great example of current Ektachrome.

Old. From my coal mine series. HP5.
Stairwell.jpg

I was terrified while trying to get this shot, with the 8x10 leaning against bannister, and me on top of some old boxes, under dark cloth... The wind howling up the stairwell...

Great canopy shot @BAC1967 ,
It inspired me to upload this old scan from a Postcard exchange:

BAC1967, that is a pretty good use of a swinging lens camera to get that kind of under canopy image.

I had never heard of the KMZ FT-2 camera before this, a little research and there is a bit of a wow factor as it uses a 50mm lens, whereas my Horizon 202 uses a 28mm swinging lens.

@macfred: There we go. Love them balloons.

@skylight1b: Parking garage? If it is then seeing a curved one is pretty cool.

@Mick Fagan: If a security guard does come around just say that Bob said it was all right to be there. 😁 A U-Haul would be doing the limbo under that bar. Would you know what the clearance on that bar would be?

@Wolfram Malukker: Well done and an excellent start into medium format!

@Andrew O'Neill: I like the design and mystery of the lower stairs. The things that we endure to get that image. Great job.

@BAC1967: Cool panorama. The camera reviews are interesting on this camera. I didn't find a print/scan size on the reviews that I have seen so I am guessing that if 4 X 6 is standard for 35mm then I am guessing it would be something around 4 X 18, or slightly less than the "18" dimension since there would be no gaps in between the three frames? The reloading into custom canisters and that there were different canisters for exposed and unexposed sort of confuses me.

@MattKing: I really like the details in the trees and the contrast balance. Did you use selenium on this image?

Keep them coming!!

It is about 4X18. I don't have the film canisters and they are hard to come by. It doesn't have a rewind knob so it had to come out of one cassette and go into the other. I modified a 35mm spool out of a cassette to use in the take-up position. I attached the film to it with tape and loosely place the rolled up film in the other side, all done in the dark. I had to get creative with self adhesive felt to seal up light leaks and eliminate internal reflections. It's a quirky camera. Since it's so wide you can get big differences in exposure across the image. If it's not level you get some crazy curvature of the horizon. It's also difficult to frame the shot, the viewfinder is horrible. It's a fun camera though, you can get some interesting effects shooting handheld and moving the camera while the lens swings.

Yes (kind of)! It's just the spiral ramp part with entrances feeding onto each level. I haven't been through it, so I'm not sure if it's up, down, or both. From the other side you can see the adjacent parking structure.

Aerial assignment from Hallmark. Latter part of 1995. Hallmark Institute was near the airport. All of us students got to fly in a single engine cessna for only one assignment.

The other night I found the negatives from the assignment but no prints. The prints were made today. There is a nonuniformity in the frames and I am not sure if it was on account of the window of the plane or some kind of exposure or development inconsistency? Some areas were given some burning in but I mostly printed as-is because it proved rather difficult so I left the imperfectness alone.

Hasselblad 501C with 120mm Makro-Planar lens. I do recall one of the instructors telling us to set the camera at around 250th when in the plane. Aperture was probably around f5.6. Tri-X Pro 320 exposed at EI 200. Developed in HC-110, Dilution B, for probably around 6 to 6.5 minutes at around 68F/20C. Hallmark used HC-110 as the film developer, Polycontrast paper and Polymax for the print developer, from what I can remember. For portraiture Agfa Brovira was used.

Images around Sunderland and South Deerfield, MA.

#1 - Old Image: "Aerial - 1"
Print Exposure: 6 seconds at f/22.

#2 - Old Image: "Aerial - 2"
Print Exposure: 7.5 seconds at f/22.

#3 - Old Image: "Aerial - 3"
Print Exposure: 12 seconds at f/22.

#4 - Old Image: "Aerial - 4"
Print Exposure: 7.5 seconds at f/22.

It was fun to be in a plane for the first time.

@Mick Fagan: Yeah those bus stairs have me a little doubtful. Might not take much of a step to sink back down.

@TheFlyingCamera: I like the structure and tones of the Cathedral and the cool feel of Tioga Pass.

@chuckroast: Outstanding image of Turnagain Arm! I really like how the mountains stand out.

@absalom1951: I like the road leading in to the bridge. Neat history about Kate's bravery with putting out the warning to the Omaha train, preventing it from colliding into a train wreck near her cabin.
