@russljames: I really like the design and shaping of the lighting in the first hallway image.

@TheFlyingCamera: The first image is striking! Like the composition. I like the third image for the chaos going on.

@skylight1b: I'm wanting to advance further. Really like the angle that was used.

@Ivo Stunga: I like the lighting and patterns going on Feeling of being left behind with only the memories of time long gone.

@russljames @What About Bob - thanks, glad you both did enjoy my pics that much :smile:

Old - Contax III. The image is a bit messed up on the left side (not sure what's going on) (negative scan).

This isn't a hallway, but it is a corridor....

would that be a "Corridor of Power?"

Mick, a bit less political. But it is referred to as a "power corridor" or "electrical line corridor". I liked how the towers looked like demons holding up the wires. So maybe a bit like the halls of parliament.

Thanks for keeping these wonderful hallway images coming this week!

@gijsbert-

What a cool hallway ceiling! An assortment of letters, numbers, and shapes that draws one’s eye upward into this photograph. I’m curious to know if there might be a story behind this ceiling art. It is most unique.

@What About Bob-

A very nice series! Of them, my favorite is “Greenhouse #1”. Your choice of exposure keeps the brighter light from the right under control while also enabling shadow details to be visible.

@macfred-

These are six beautiful photographs taken with your Rollei, macfred. Each has a unique interpretation of the hallway theme. The one that stands out for me is the image of the two ladies strolling on the cobblestone walkway. From out the darkness of the hallway into the bright of day, this composition is made with an impressive contrast of light.

@fophem-

I really like the atmosphere that you create here with the overall softness of light. Was this taken near dusk or sunrise? The golden glow of light on the left side wall of the hallway is my favorite detail in this image.

@Don_ih

A very creative interpretation of the theme, indeed! For me, the scanner glitch adds just enough blurriness to the image to make this quite interesting, enabling the first two “demon towers” to appear quite sharp.

We’re now at the halfway point in the month. I can’t wait to see what will be posted during the next few weeks. :smile:

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words. It was taken at sunset. Probably around 4-5 pm, the sun sets early in winter in Japan. I accentuated the color cast under the enlarger. The color balance is far from being natural and I had to heavily burn the sea and sky to get some details !

A Philly hallway from today, my first time trying Portra400 in medium format. Lately I've been trying to learn how to scan C41 and it's been a struggle but I'm improving here and there. It was overcast and pretty dim today but I'm pleased with the color anyway. 👍

Crossover Hall

Shen Hao HZX45 IIA
Fujinon 65mm
Ilford FP4+
D76 1:1
f/16 approximately 2.5 seconds (Bulb)
Centre Graduated Filter.

This is the original crossover hallway between two long rows of classrooms in an old school. The crossover hallway has been converted into a meeting area with a quite permanent looking temporary wall. The old school houses all sorts of organisations, including my Men's Shed, U3A (university of the Third Age), various ethnic groups, a Kindergarten, Plant Nursery and a volunteer emergency unit; which are the ones I can remember offhand.

Greetings!

Thanks for uploading more great “hallway” pictures for this MSA during these past few weeks.

@rcap

This hallway appears to be in a rather old building. The image draws me to that open doorway and makes me curious to know what happens in that room. Very nice!

@warden

I love shooting Portra 400. And I think the flat light that day really helped you nail the range of colors in this hallway scene. Well done!

@destroya

This image is a bit like another, but yours has a distinctive blue cast to the color which makes a nice contrast with the red and gold tones on the right side, going down the hallway. I really like the mood that you’ve created!

@Mick Fagan

My favorite aspect of this image is the “bright and cheery” feeling that it creates for me. If I was a student in that old school, I would come here to study between classes. And I would pick that table under the 1st window on the left. 😊

@Ivo Stunga

I very much like your choice of film for this image! What IR film/filter/shutter/f stop combination did you use?

We still have today and tomorrow to upload more “hallway” photos for this MSA.

Cheers!

Ivo, in the past I used quite a lot of Kodak Infrared film, but not once did I ever contemplate photographing indoors like that; quite a different and worthwhile picture.

@russljames

This is a 1st floor hallway leading to a large machine room, in the Main Laboratory Building at the Thomas Edison site in West Orange, NJ. The building was completed @1887.

The building also houses a small machine shop, library, Edison's office, general experimental rooms.

Regards,

Ray

Thanks! It's Superpan 200 @400 with Heliopan RG715, +2 stops from normal metering: f/8 and 1/30, tripod.

but not once did I ever contemplate photographing indoors like that; quite a different and worthwhile picture.
Appreciated! It's fun to experiment and it yields surprising results. Noticed, for example, that in IR spectrum film can record multiple images from a continuous gaming video (LCD) over ~minute of exposure, keeping sharp image lines (menus) and giving multiple exposure vibes. In visible light that monitor would've been overexposed to hell...

Greetings again, all,

Thanks to everyone for submitting many superb images for the March “hallways” MSA theme. I’m passing the honor of selecting a new theme for April to TheFlyingCamera, and the image “NatGalleryTunnel 1.jpg” Congratulations!
