Really Open Sign
(new-ish, since it's about 9 months old. Film is ancient Agfacolor in old-style cassettes - frozen for at least the last 40 years, not sure about the twenty before that - developed in cold C41 developer. This is a scan but I did make a print of this that looks pretty similar, maybe not quite as magenta) Leica III, probably Elmar 50.

Don, that is really interesting colour that you got from the old Agfa film, and using cold developer. Presumably around room temperature?

If you are going to have a colour cast, then having a dominant one like this is great.

@Mick Fagan --- I bracketed that shot (although this is the best framing) and the colour is a bit different depending on the speed. The film ended up being around iso50, is my best guess. I bought a big load of film from a retired photographer - all frozen since the 1980s - I still have five or six rolls of this. The biggest challenge with scanning this was dealing with the fact that it was curled almost into a tube. It's been squished into a binder since last May and it's still nowhere near flat.

The developer was at 20 degrees (which was room temperature) and I developed it for, I think, about 20 minutes. I was very surprised that most of the negatives had good contrast (no matter what colour cast).

All of these latest entries are new

I disappointed myself by not finishing a roll that I have this month's shots on. I think that's happened to me three times, so far....

OK, so this was a tough one to judge because there were so many interesting/humorous submissions for the February MSA. But I had to choose one and so I selected the submission below from @Roger Thoms . This photo was just dripping with words and symbols and seemed to really nail this month's theme. It also reminded me a bit of a Cy Twombly painting and I love Cy 😉

Congrats Roger!

Wow, I’m totally surprised and honored, thank you so much. I will have to look up a Cy Twombly as I’m not familiar. I’ll have to give some thought to a new topic and will try and get a new thread started tomorrow.

I too had never heard of Cy Twombly, a quick search turned up some interesting art.

Congratulations Roger.

Congrats @Roger Thoms !

Cy Twombly's work is indeed very interesting. He was friends with Sally Mann and she photographed his studio for years. Some of the photos can be seen here: https://gagosian.com/exhibitions/2016/sally-mann-remembered-light-cy-twombly-in-lexington/

He also did some photography: http://www.cytwombly.org/artworks/photographs

If you have access to Kanopy, there is also an excellent documentary on Cy Twombly called 'Cy Dear' that is worth watching.

This month was busy and hectic AF so I didn't do this in time. Considering that I shot it for this theme, I'll dare to post it here anyhow. Found it ingraved in a wall at a abandoned military site.
