MSA O/N December 2023 - "The Cleft"

Hi all,

Thanks to @Mick Fagan for passing the torch for the month of December. I'll look forward to seeing how the community decides to interpret this assignment, "The Cleft". I have a few images from the past that might work but I'm going to make some new images this month with this assignment in mind. I'm looking forward to that!

We'll call it on December 31 and the torch will be passed into the new year on Jan 1, 2024.

Don't forget to mark your images "New" (made in December 2023) or "Old" for images made before that.

Ah ha de Cleft ... monthly assignment

noun
cleft; plural noun: clefts

a fissure or split, especially one in rock or the ground.
"the third peak is divided from the eastern one by a deep cleft"

Similar:
split, slit, crack, fissure, crevice, chasm, opening, rift, break, fracture, rent, breach,
gash, cranny, interstice, furrow, indentation, gap, hole, pit, void, crater.

A vertical indentation in the middle of a person's forehead or chin.
"the enticing cleft in his chin" a deep division between two parts of the body.

Not amazing images, but I'm surprised that I actually have two photos that fit this category, both old:

A split rock that was larger than a house on Long Island (Rocky Point) - Ektar 100

A bunch of mushrooms growing out of a cleft in a tree - Ultramax 400

Roger, that is wonderful.

At some stage, probably in the far future as far as we humans are concerned, one of those clefts is going to become a vacant wall. Would be a wonderful thing to see and hear.

A cleft in the park.

New, exposed the film a few days ago.

This tree is in Braeside Park, which is around 10km from our house as the crow flies, and is 310 hectares of wonderful parkland.

Ilford FP4+
Shen Hao HZX45-IIA
D76 1:1
Fujinon 150 f/6.3
1/30 at f/16½ (½ a stop added for bellows extension) normally I would have used f/22.
No filter, 15mm front fall.

Rocks and their clefts seem to be everywhere.

Taken around the mid 80's, printed late 80's, flatbed scan from an 8x10" colour negative print an hour ago.

Film Agfa colour negative, paper Agfa.

Camera Nikon F3, Probably 55mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor.

Location, high country Australia.
