Well, you can call that an experiment indeed! (but please do not stop)

OK.
Tried Lumen in the sameish vane as my photogram.
8x10 fotospeed rc oyster paper.
Pre fixing and after fixing, was trying to get a little more depth, kind of. Unfortunately the leaf curled up under the top bud.....I suck at flower pressing, Sly does a much better job.

Nice! I'm not a fan of what fixing does to lumens but you've gotten some nice rich tones out of that RC paper (which always seems to stay in the brown for me). I'm going to try to get a lumen done by the end of the month, since my darkroom plumbing is busted its about my only option.

I took out my 1930's Zeiss Ikomat this past Monday, loaded with a roll of EDU 100. I tried the caffenol "Harmony" recipe for the first time for development, as it was noted on the Caffenol website that EDU 100 is a good match for this mixture. Here are three images (negative scans) from this last minute experiment.

Thanks again, Sly, for the fun MSA theme.

Russ

Wish I could have gotten something done in time. This thread should become a sticky, or another "experiment" thread started for that purpose

When I choose this topic I didn't consider how hard it would be to judge. An experiment is not necessarily going to produce wonderful results, so I can't just pick the most technically perfect, or prettiest.

LAG gave us some Velvia developed in exhausted chemicals.
Bertus got some good results printing on expired Panalure paper. Then he went on to enter a print of a negative strip using liquid emulsion. Bertus also posted a cyanotype.
TheToadMen made his first paper negative for use in alt printing.
Awty made his first photogram (on expired paper - expired film and paper seem to be a strong presence in this thread) then made a contact print (his first). This was followed by a darker moodier print on (guess what?) expired paper. Awty later went on to try a different permutation of photogram - a lumen print, before and after fixing.
Cholentpot challenged an old roll of TriX with 2 cameras, date stamps, and interesting artifacts. His second experiment was a pano mask for an Argus. I'd like to see more images made with this.
Michael Orr jumped into lith printing on a paper not known for lithability. He didn't get what he hoped for, but is eager to keep working at it. I look forward to seeing his further work.
Russ James put a test roll of expired colour film through a flea market found camera, then developed in caffenol (using expired ascorbic acid). And just sliding under the wire he brought us images developed in a new-to-him caffenol recipe "Harmony". They look gorgeous. Maybe Russ could share the recipe or a link to it with us.
Ned shared a not-in-contention experiment with a calotype made before this MSA.
Matt contributed an accidental experiment - an overexposure that works pretty well.
Flying Camera also contributed an accidental experiment - a double exposure.

So it's a tough one, but the winner is Awty!

He was my choice because he took an idea and followed it a bit, a negative, a positive, a different positive, then a different iteration.

And besides..... he hasn't won in the last couple of years.

Over to you Awty for the next challenge.

Thanks Sly for an excellent MSA-topic!
And congratulations to Awty for sending in a fine experiment and a very nice print.
Please let us know if you'll be able to host the next MSA.

Wow thanks Sly, so many great entries, so many things I want to try.
I havent done this before or even entered before, so will need to look through previous comps to see what has been done before.
Will think up something this evening (my time) got to go to work now.

Congrats, Awty! Your entry was a great choice.

Per your request, Sly, here is a link to the caffenol "Harmony" recipe. Its the 3rd one down on the list.
Russ
Thanks Russ. That looks so easy. Here I've been bashing Tylenol tablets to make my Rodinal from scratch.

Well done everybody. Lots of great and interesting entries.
And sly, well "judged" as well.
For more than the usual number of reasons, I'm glad you were able to pick the "winner" and I didn't have that task.
The next MSA has been started by awty with a fun new theme - "Pareidolia" - here is the link: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)
I'll do my magic with "Sticky" threads.
