I'm a first time participant and am very new to shooting film. I like the idea of shooting assignments and hope to be able to take part now and then.

Taken June 3, 2016 with a newly acquired Pentax ME Super and 50mm 1:2 lens. Home developed in DD-X.

Hi Julie,
Welcome to the MSA and this is an excellent image and entry!

Nice softness, almost water colours.
Would do well as a book cover too.

All these flower shots in the gallery are lovely, and are getting me really excited for the color class at school this upcoming semester!

Finally got around to developing my film. I think I got three good ones on this roll.
I've also come up with a new naming scheme to help me be more organized with my negatives. (And so I don't have to call everything "Untitled #5." Year/Month/Roll/Frame)

This one is actually a double exposure, rotating the camera 180o between exposures.

EDIT: found the gallery embed option.

Thanks for posting. I love the cat photo. Mine would have eaten the flower.

Thanks for posting. I love your take on the assignment. I probably would not have thought of it.

Thanks for posting. Your photo is soft dreamy. It makes me think of old garden magazines.

Digital snap of a couple "(there was a url link here which no longer exists)" prints. Hope the snap is allowed; I'd have to adjust the color if I sc*nned it and it would still turn out less acurate.

3rd one is a snap of a Lumen Print, "May Flowers". Haven't gotten around to Lumenochromizing it yet.
These are fascinating, Wayne. In the one on the left, one of the petals looks like a fish and that leads me to imagine these are exotic underwater flowers. Thanks for the link...I will have to investigate how these are done.

Thank you, gents and Julie.

No fish were at work here, but I too am constantly surprised and amazed at what I find happening in this process. Its been a very il-lumen-ating process of discovery.

I was asked to test a Leica Minilux. A colleague at work inherited it from his father. There was still a very old roll of Kodak Gold inside. So I found me some fresh batteries and tested the camera begin May and today finally got the time to develop and scan the old film. It appears the film was still "good".

This is one of a fruit tree fully blossoming:

I uploaded several "flower" pics to the MSA Gallery. Will now attempt to do the same here. If I am unsuccessful, please be so kind as to view them in the Gallery. Thanks...

barbara ann:

They look great.

I'm not sure, but the 4th one here may not have made it to the gallery - which would be a shame, because it is particularly nice!

I finally found time to have all the films from the last two months developed. I hope to scan some flowers for this MSA.
Here is the first film: a test run of my "new" RB67 with 127 mm lens and Fuji NPC160 (expired 2004).
It's a close-up of a Hydrangea in my back yard. The second image is an overlap of two exposure due to me not transporting the film all the way. Still, it's looking nice though with a negative size of 6x11 instead of 6x7!

These are two close-up shots of a wild butter cup, shot on the border of a small stream called "Egelbeek" (= Hedgehog Stream) early May 2016.
Made with my Agfa Click, that I converted into a pinhole camera. The vignetting is due to the old glass holder of the original lens, now acting as a too small lens hood. Both images exposed for 40 seconds on Fuji NPC 160 (expired 2005). The flower itself is not out of focus, only seems so due to movement from the wind.

BTW:
This is the "Egelbeek", getting my feet wet in the middle of the stream (40 sec. exposure handheld).

Dandelions in my back yard, Agfa Click pinhole camera, exposed for 40 seconds (handheld) on Fuji NPC 160 (expired 2005), also early May 2016. Some nice motion blur due to the wind.

Lupine

I can't be part of the competition with this, since the picture is a year old, but wanted to share it. End of May here is usually amazing with the Lupines.
