Hi Sly,
I like this one even better. Nice perspective. As if you had put a small toy to a brick wall in your garden.

"nothing remains but a stone and some memories"

Since Stone is gone, I wanted to keep his memory by photographing some head stones.

These shots are made with my new Mamiya C330f (80 mm) on a WWII cemetery in Geleen, The Netherlands.

And the graves of all the other unknown fallen stones, on which we built our freedom!

Scott that granite torchèr looks neat!

I went out and just had fun with pinhole cameras today. It was a nice "tune up" for WPPD coming up at the end of the month. A couple paper negatives are drying right now, but here are a couple instant film pinholes:

Sonoma City Hall was built in 1908:

And here is part of a train depot that was originally called Los Guilicos built for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad in 1887. In 1895 the town and depot were renamed Kenwood. The depot was built from locally quarried basalt and was one of two stone depots in California at that time. This railroad ran from Santa Rosa to Napa Junction, and provided most of the stone used to pave the Embarcadero and Market Street in San Francisco.

(BTW: just now developed, but image shot last November, so no entry for the MSA contest itself)

Here is one of my contributions to this month's MSA: Columnar Basalt

It is some of the oldest rock on earth, and the purity of that is kind of mind numbing, how this piece of rock has been sitting there for millions of generations (human life equivalent). Takes my breath away. I wonder if some day the land masses on earth will be completely swallowed by the oceans, as the seemingly never ending energy of waves keep pounding on the coast lines of every continent.

More entries to follow.

Excellent contribution. Lessons learned: in the end water will be stronger than stone.

(This one is an entry to this MSA competition because it was shot in March to - finally - finish the film in my Nikon S2)

Here are the two pinhole paper negatives from yesterday. I was driving by the Mission in Sonoma, on my way to a stone bridge when I looked out my window and saw a stone house, with a sign on the front "Stone House" which is apparently its name! So of course I made a picture. This house was built in 1906 and is next door to the famous Blue Wing Inn, across West Spain Street from the Mission San Francisco Solano. This is an 8x10 paper negative:

And here is one of 4 stone bridges I found yesterday. This one is in the little town of Glen Ellen, and crosses Calabazas Creek. It was built in 1900. The light was challenging with deep shade under the bridge but bright sky. 5x7 paper negative from a coffee can pinhole camera with some built-in rise:

I'm having fun with this assignment. Today I took my pinhole cameras to some large rocks near the ocean where woolly mammoths may have rubbed against them to make smooth shiny patches. The place certainly felt prehistoric, almost timeless. If the photos don't come out I might try again on WPPD, it was a good hike too. I've learned some amazing things doing MSA!
