Anyone ?
Matt, Ned, moose ... Don't let me down !

Remember F. Nietzsche (1849 - 1900 ‚‘Lone’):

Shrill shriek the crows
that to the town in whirls roam:
soon come the snows -
woe unto him, who has no home ...

sorry to let you down macfred - Jan/early Feb was crazy busy for me and I’ve been travelling for the past 3 weeks, so have nothing to show other than digital phone images or old stuff, neither of which is acceptable for this assignment. I’m really hoping to have more of a focus on my photography this year, so hopefully I’ll be able to participate in these assignments more often.

Like moose, I've been traveling and January/February got busy ( an unfortunate legal situation at a non-profit community organization I volunteer at took a great deal of my time ). You chose great subjects, it wasn't that!!!!

If I ever get in the way of choosing a theme again, I will choose sunrises or old cars...
Glad ya got a smile on that... :D
You have chosen great themes, now and in the past. People are preoccupied, as explained, and others, .. maybe with all that's been going on right now politically and health wise. We also have evidently lost some regulars who have passed away due to time and circumstances.
So maybe these posts will catch some interest, let it run for a couple of more days, and see what happens.

Greetings, macfred,

Thanks for the extra time on this assignment. "Mein heimatland" features a windmill. I had a perfect day a few weeks ago for capturing it with expired Kodak HIE Infrared film. This is a negative negative scan. (Dust removal was used and brightness was reduced in the scan)Windmill January-February MSA.jpg

I echo the sentiments of others- you have wonderful themes-just that the business of life can get sometimes get in the way of what should be a priority; shooting pictures. Cheers!

We have a winner !!

First of all I would like to thank you for your participation in this MSA on the topic of ''Heimat''.
Before I announce my winner, I would like to say a few final thoughts on the topic:

The concept of ''Heimat'' or ''Heimatland'' often has a negative connotation of smugness and backward-looking, one connects "Heimat" with narrow provincialism, backward-looking tradition care and nationalism.

In a positive sense ''Heimat'' is something that is familiar, where you know your way around, where you belong and where you are no stranger.
''Heimat'' always remains a place of longing, which arises from a deep human need for security and acceptance.
At the moment we are experiencing a ''renaissance'' of the longing for ''Heimat''.
Without a doubt, this seems to be a longing of many, especially young people, who can no longer put down roots in the globalised world with its acceleration, an increased compulsion to flexibility and mobility,
the dissolution of traditional family structures and the loss of religion and spirituality.
The soul's need for rootedness, orientation and belonging is no longer sufficiently satisfied.
However, those who can no longer find a ''Heimat'' in their soul often tend to want to insure their own identity by excluding others.

I appreciate all the photographs submitted here on the subject !
The entirety of all photographs transmits the concept of ''Heimat'' in a perfect form.
It is difficult for me to speak of a winner here, but that is probably the purpose of a competition ...

Congratulations @Marttiko !
Your work has appealed to me the most - it contains everything that is deeply connected to the concept of ''Heimat'' for me. Many thanks for it !
Now it is up to you to choose the next topic for the MSA March / April 2020. Good luck and have fun !
