Local kids have left their mark for future generations with some modern petroglyphs.

I made some Carbon prints last weekend. I love these alt-photo processes. Carbon printing is a beautiful (but intensive) process with great tonality and beautiful (lasting) black. This print would fit the theme of this MSA. Here is a terrible "iPhone-quick-scan" made while the print is still drying. I'll post a proper scan later.

A carbon print about mankind, ploughing through the land. You could call it a "making a carbon foot print". Like the Dutch poet and writer J.W.F. Werumeus Buning (1891-1958) wrote in 1935:

Ballade van de boer:
"Er stonden drie kruisen op Golgotha,
Maar de boer hij ploegde voort ..."

(roughly translated: Ballad of the Farmer: There where three crosses on Golgotha, but the farmer he ploughed onward ..."

Haven't been very happy with the blotches I've been getting while lith...

A couple of shots grabbed during a downtown walk on a gray and rainy day. Gave my seldom used Nikkormat some exercise. Printed on Fomabrom 112, developed in Dektol, bleached and redeveloped in Arista Lith. First time I've tried this with F'brom. I've been struggling with blotchy results with this paper, so I'm happy to find another way to deal with it.

This is a photo taken at the Langley Heritage Speedway, which was originally started in 1964/65. It was the site of a wide variety of car races (including Nascar) until 1987. It has heritage designation and there is a Langley Historical Speedway Society which is looking to protect it. The old photographs on their website ( http://www.langleyspeedway.ca/index.html ) are amazing when you compare them with the forested area that now surrounds it.

I call it "Barrier"

Here's a shot of some unusual sand prints. After a good snow out at the beach, the winds had covered the snow with a layer of sand. This left some deep but very pronounced footprints when people walked upon it. I'm not sure what those little things sticking up in the left side of the shot are. I posted this in the gallery, I'm not sure if you're supposed to post here or in the MSA gallery...

Here are the the results of the forum contest: "Traces of People exposed".
In the assessment of this exercise I mostly paid attention to the idea behind the concept, creativity, good composition, quality of light and lighting overall.
So de bar was high and to my surprise we were rewarded with a lot of excellent quality entries with a high creative level.
We saw pictures with beautiful atmosphere and different moods, beautiful light, strong composition etc.
So we pulling out all the stops! Unfortunately I can appoint only one winning photo and that will be: "The tree imm005" of Russ James,
