I took the dog and my pinhole cameras to the beach today with some ideas for this. The wind was blasting, steady near 40 knots and gusting well over 50. We managed about 5 minutes on the beach before we had to leave so that poor Mango's eyes didn't get sandblasted, and headed inland for a long walk away from the sand but still in the gale. No pictures, my cameras would have blown away!! Got more new ideas though...

I normally stay away from the MSA out of respect for another long-time member's sensitivities. But this is an exception where I wish to point out a different member's amazing effort, recently posted in the APUG gallery.

I first thought carefully about the mandate: Traces... of people... exposed...

Then I saw this photograph: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

It's a triple-double, I think. Both a figurative and a literal interpretation of all three requirements, in a stunning setting, magnificently rendered.

Unfortunately, it's not mine. So it must remain un-entered...

I saw that and it is a striking and excellent photograph. It didn't occur to me that it fits the theme, but you're right, it fits it beautifully.

First time entering one of these, and the developers tore out some of the spots I was going to go check out. Kentmere 100 in a Minolta SRT 102 w/ Kalimar 28-70mm on selenium toned Polymax II.

still trying to add at least one pinhole to every MSA

Same beach but different days while APUG was offline for upgrades:

Neither is mine; that would have been cheating! And you have no idea how difficult it was to make these without having paw prints in, on and all around them ....

Very nice images, you've spend the down time very well.
I like the first image best. Looks like a giant foot print. I like the way a pinhole image can warp the view on close by objects.
You exposed this trace of people very well indeed.

I finished up another roll with some MSA subjects while doing multiple things at once again(testing a new camera and 510-Pyro developer). Here is one I find interesting.

I am the man at the start and show a 4x5" camera and the Cyanotype process. Enjoy!

Step by step we collect a nice series of photos of the theme: "traces of People".
I am happy with such enthusiasm.

Ok here's and odd one that I'm not to pleased with, but I finally repaired the darkroom .. I mean truck camper, after discovering a water leak that made a reservoir under the sleeping area. Oh my, it had been leaking a while.. but did not discover it, until the plywood started to rot through, so wanted to make an entry again so submitting this one to start.

Traces of People Exposed.. Fresh 21 century boot print, with two 700 +/- year old Pot Shards.
Neither one saw the other. Different times exposed together, .. in the same location, as life goes on.

Of course I was totally confused by the APUG format changes, what else is new!
I contacted Sean in a tizzy and he graciously pointed me in the right direction(s).
Got my 4 contest entires posted in the MSA Gallery. Will now try my luck at posting them here,
(although I still don't "get" why we do that.)

1. Bed recently slept in... 2.Swing used by toddler next door...3.Roadside Memorial for accident victim...
4. Someone took a bite of the apple!

Thanks, Ned and Bertus. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Because it means that non-subscribers can see them, while subscribers have the added benefit that they can see almost all the entries nearly side by side.

And because we like teaching new tricks .
