MSA for May/June 2020 - Altered Reality

I cracked open George Nelson’s How to See for ideas on this month’s MSA. I settled on his section on Art and reality (seeing with the mind). In one of his examples, he shows a standard snapshot of a roadway along with an abstract presentation of the same roadway view. The second image was taken at night with a long exposure and shaking the camera to give a ‘more interesting’ result.

With so many people in lock-down, I tried to create an MSA that would work indoors as well as outdoors. So here it is: each submission requires an original snapshot followed by an altered reality image. The skies the limit as to what is possible for manipulation as long as it falls within the bounds of analog photography and the rules of this contest. Pre-exposure, post-exposure, during exposure(s), darkroom, and post darkroom manipulations are all fair game. I can’t wait to see what voodoo, mojo, and creative juice you can level on this MSA - GO WILD!

The MSA Guidelines can be found here: Guidelines link. Photographs must have been taken after May 1, 2020.

Thank you - an interesting and challenging theme.
Just a reminder, to emphasize what has already been posted - the manipulations can't be digital manipulations.
Jerry Uelsmann, not his now ex-wife, Maggie Taylor :D.
And don't forget the "before" image.
I'll do my stuff with Sticky threads and the updated theme list.

This sounds fun! I already have a few ideas for the darkroom!

I was thinking a before and after. But the before and after could be off the same neg if that is what you mean? Is it? In the example from how to see the author illustrates the same scene from two separate exposures. However, your 'altered reality' could come from darkroom treatments of the same neg, for example.

Have I made this clear as mud?

Or possibly something like a print that has only been altered in certain locations - hand colouring comes to mind.

Indoor shot framed picture 'Johan, d'Old Barber', Gouda the Netherlands, in windowlight at home this week. The original was taken 8 years ago with a Cambo 4X5" and framed with others for an exhibition.
Now I shoot this image in sunlight and shadow lines of the curtain. Bronica SQai and 110 mm, Ilford FP4 in HC110.

The suspense rests with Bertus in deciding what the next MSA will be. I really appreciate the twice over delicate portrayal of what is a sharp subject: scissors and razors! Well done.

The baton is now passed.

Thanks Jason.
I'm sorry it was such a challenging time for participation.
And I'm hopeful Bertus' idea for the next theme will coincide with it being easier for many to participate.
