MSA for May/June 2020 - Altered Reality
I cracked open George Nelson’s
How to See for ideas on this month’s MSA. I settled on his section on Art and reality (seeing with the mind). In one of his examples, he shows a standard snapshot of a roadway along with an abstract presentation of the same roadway view. The second image was taken at night with a long exposure and shaking the camera to give a ‘more interesting’ result.
With so many people in lock-down, I tried to create an MSA that would work indoors as well as outdoors. So here it is: each submission requires an original snapshot followed by an altered reality image. The skies the limit as to what is possible for manipulation as long as it falls within the bounds of analog photography and the rules of this contest. Pre-exposure, post-exposure, during exposure(s), darkroom, and post darkroom manipulations are all fair game. I can’t wait to see what voodoo, mojo, and creative juice you can level on this MSA - GO WILD!
