The theme for MSA November / December 2019 : Narrative photography - tell a story in a single frame

A movie can tell a story - that’s for sure. A series of photographs can tell a whole life - true!
Even a diptych or a triptych might do well …

But what about storytelling with just a single photograph? Please try …

Remember the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sally Mann or maybe Philip Jones Griffiths or ...
No need to tell your story in words (you can if you like), because I think the story is in the viewer’s head.

The guidelines for the Monthly Shooting Assingment :

Have fun !

Great idea macfred!
A reminder to everyone that photos need to have been taken no earlier than November 1, 2019, and that the "analogue" restrictions described in the guidelines linked to above apply.
I'll do my magic with Sticky threads, and I'll update the historical list of themes.

Khanh, thank you very much for adding a remarkable example to our MSA ! Capturing intense / powerful emotions is one important part of storytelling.

Looking out for more ...
Even staged, non-spontaneus photography is welcome to this MSA.
Remember Gregory Crewdson with his staged cinematic photos - Cindy Sherman or Canadian Jeff Wall coming to my mind too.

I do, Bertus ... Do you tumble dry your clothing ? Does the Fuji still works ??
A hat swimming on the water surface; some ripples and those iron chains swinging could make a nice addition to the photograph ...
Cloting and shoes dirty and wet, slippery cobblestone, bruised bones and scratches, Deep water, silence, Owl in the tree watching me, Captain's Gohst hanging around searching for company, alone and nobody to help me out here, did I the rolfilm in my Fuji... Rain is coming,

My story is called, “Prost!”

Image captured on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the 59th annual Wurstfest, a 10- day salute to sausage, held in New Braunfels, Texas.

· Nikon S, Nikkor 3.5cm, Kodak Color Plus

· Home developed in Unicolor C41 kit, negative scan, “dust removal” only enhancement

Cheers!

Russ

It is a great topic, as well as a challenging one.
It is a tough time of year as well for me - very little time to get into the darkroom.

I took some photos of bigamy houses in Escalante, UT this Thanksgiving for this MSA because the architectural design of the houses readily tells an historical story. Each sister wife would have a separate but equal home within the same dwelling. I would like to go back to do a more comprehensive shoot.

Further to a "Conversation" initiated by macfred, as this has been a very busy last two months for a lot of us, I am supportive of the idea of extending the window for this assignment to end of the day on January 5th. Any objections?
