Much as I enjoy using automated SLRs, I'm tired of fishing around inside the cassette to extract the leader. As I re-use cassettes a few times, destroying them after one use isn't an option. Any suggestion for AF SLRs with leader out setting? Preferably Canon or Nikon because I have AF lenses for them, but I'm prepared to consider alternatives.

Canon elan 7. I have one and take advantage of this in the custom functions. Other canons should have this feature as well.

The Canon T-90 (non AF) has got this feature by means of two dedicated soldering patches at its flexboard to be bridged.

Thus it in case a succeeding AF model did not got an external-button solution for this, it nevertheless might got such dedicated soldering patches.

F3 with the MF-6/6B or MF-18 backs, then you can sometimes get F4 bodies that have been modified to leave the leader out. I'm assuming the F5 can be had with the same modification.

I recently sold my T90 and don't recall a leader out setting. Was this a user modification?

As I indicated it is about two patches on the internal electronics (foil-printed circuit) to be bridged by soldering. Something to be done by a camera technician. Or an experienced Apugger. But it is a possibility by purpose designed by Canon.

Something's up. I am sure the T90 had leader-out capacity. I had this camera for shooting Kodachrome 200 over 8 years or so and always had the leader out so I could load/reload partly exposed films at will.

If your camera left the leader out it must have been modified standard T90's don't leave the leader out

I have a couple of Minolta SRM's and as far as I know, they were the first to have it.
Was a big deal back then.

Canon EOS 1v (the best canon slr), or my personal favorite, Canon EOS 30v (Elan 7E).

The elan 7/7E/30/33/30v/33v are all much the same camera...

My Nikon F100 leaves the leader out. I bought the camera used so I assume someone had it modified, but it is a handy feature.

The EOS630 that the RT was based on has fewer custom functions than the RT, however it may also be set to leave the leader out after rewinding: in fact, the first thing I did on acquiring my own example was to make it so enabled.
