It only would be practical if you could use them all the same time.

(And you still would have paid too much for them.)

That would be fun ... but I'm thinking along the lines that it's replaceable, breakable and isn't an 'expensive thing' that would negatively change the dynamic in (for instance) a squat, a rave, a protest etc.

Good point. I've become more adventurous with 35mm cameras since they became cheap, and some of my photography is better for it. However cameras die on me at a high rate, at least 4 last year alone, so they're not the kind of gear I'd use for unrepeatable stuff.

A fairly priced wonderful camera is the Olympus 4-Ti. Lightweight and pretty compact with a zuiko standard lens on it, yet packed with features and a sweet spot metering function.

Chinon CP7m. Built like a tank, cheap on ebay and works in all modes including Program with any K-mount lens that has an apature ring...Oh it uses four AA batteries. Or If you want a brick of a camera Pentax KX or Ricoh KR-10. If you want Auto-Focus than you can't beat the simplicity of the first two EOS cameras 650/620.

Pentax k1000. They're durable, parts are still plentiful, can be bought off kijiji/ebay/local camera repair centres for a song. Lenses can be found everywhere and for cheap. Built like a tank. No extra features to eventually wear out/break. Cool dials and things that go click. Looks gorgeous.

Pentax K2,KX and KM. Better cameras than the K1000 and usually even less expensive.

Loved my k2 when it was working! Unfortunately it had a major shutter and electrical issue and couldn't be repaired. Didn't realize you could find them so cheap though! I was given mind and bought my k1000 for $100 at the camera repair centre in halifax with a recent CLA! Great guys at the crc. If you haven't seen it on youtube you should Google their k1000 video.

Late model canon film SLR cameras are rather inexpensive on ebay these days, especially the Rebel series. They are fairly good cameras too... pretty easy to use and capable of producing images just as good as the top-of-the-line models if used with the same lenses. It's not a bad idea to buy two or three bodies, in case one goes bad. Also buying the battery grip is a good idea, which use common varieties of batteries, so you never have to worry about finding the special batteries the cameras would otherwise use.
