Why waste perfectly good pinhole cameras
( I'm 54 in a few months too.. couldn't hit the side of a barn. I like wide angle pinhole cameras.. )
I'm 53, 54 in a couple months.
The joke was: If Bill wants to be more careful of what he writes... he shouldn't write, "I need to watch what I say", because he didn't say anything and if he did he couldn't see it. Even an oscilloscopic rendering is a visually abstract interpretation of sound... not the sound itself. However, I suppose he is watching what he's writing.
I have two oscilloscopes, so I could watch what I say in that respect. But you are right. I didn't "say" anything so even if the oscilloscope was on, and connected to a microphone in front of me... all I would have seen as I watched whatever was happening at the time... would be a few bumpy spikes in an otherwise flat trace.
Now if I were to pay closer attention to what I was typing, truth and sarcasm would be harder to distinguish.

there is supposed to be a sarcasm emoji ... sarcasm seems to go WAY over people's heads.
you know, like TV shows have a laugh track an emoji would remind people as well ..
That makes 3 of us 53's right here in this thread... geez I think you should change your user name ONF, I was imagining you about twice my ageI'm 53 but hands shaky... neurological thing.
You do know I'm just messin' with ya', Bill. Right?
So John, which 4x5 silver bullet should I get?
Linhof TK45
Linhof Kardan RE
Linhof Kardan GT
Arca F-Metric
Arca M
Sinar P2
Toyo VX125
Or should I just buy them all and be done with it.
Haha
All thoughts welcome. I'm gonna need one of them lines of credit people talk about.

Put the rifle on sandbags, move it around until the crosshairs ore on target. Pull the trigger by squeezing with your thumb on the back of the trigger guard and your forefinger on the trigger. Of course the gun I'm talking about weighs 14+ pounds - but I had a friend with Parkinson's shooting the primers out of 12Ga shotshells at 50yds this way.
Did you also win a cruise?

Actually I've got all the lenses I need. Even if I didn't, I'd be screwed anyway since Schneider left the business, and Rodenstock only makes 3 focal lengths.
if you an xenophon let me know.
Now you have got me. What does a Greek Historian and Socrates expert have to do with this?
Can't get any fine art XXXLLLs because Schneider ain't making them no more. Too bad because I thought it would be cool to make a reading lamp out of one.
Good point I definitely need the Hyperiogon with the blower. But since I can only buy brand new stuff I'd have to find one that had never been touched. On the other hand maybe I could buy a nice Roots blower and attach it to a Super Angulon.
The one thing I'm missing is a concave front element.

behind the lens filter holder
you are getting there, but slowly,
you probably can get a deal on barely used ... mint condition NIB sort of optics like you want,
or at least an overpriced chinese made knockoff. ive got some connections on alibaba i can coax
i also have set of some concave front elements ... what focal lengths do you need ?
i can't sell them cheap though, i am working on making steam punk spectacles with them
and they sell for even more than the graflex/graphic flash post did 10-12years ago when
star wars fans were making light sabers.
Ya' mean the ones still selling for $150-300 today?
I'll give that a try. My Savage Axis .223 Rem and .30-06 Sprg aren't bad but they'll never measure up to the best. They're certainly better than I'll ever be again though. They can do .5 MOA or better.
Speaking of inexpensive gear... one half of one degree MOA is very decent even for fairly pricey rifles and one can buy a Savage Axis for $400 or less. Cameras are often the same regarding cost vs. performance but lenses aren't necessarily so. I can't shoot a rifle worth a darn anymore but cameras and lenses are different because they rest on a tripod and we don't touch them at all during exposure.
