As a guy who's "done" with the Leica buzz (sold mine off), I like the idea that you're not "stuck" using a Leica rangefinder just 'cause you want to shoot monochrome. I respect Leica... but it was really just a box for zeiss glass in my case, and I found in time that I just prefer SLR's just about any way you go about it... and switched to Nikons for "miniatures" so one set of lenses would cover 35mm needs in both digital and film. Prospect of that with Leica was daunting.

Don't know a thing about these folks, but glad you found them. I'd tend to think if you could visit them and get your hands on a product to give it a whirl... that'd be worth the airfare or gas. Even better if you could make comparison shots with known Leica and/or PhaseOne products - which fairly shouldn't be the only game in town for digital monochrome. I'm shooting film instead... but I'd gladly shoot a monochrome, too. Looking at their website, I'm not so sure how much you "save"... but I looked only at their "sales" and not conversions of existing cameras.

Please share more of what you learn. Thanks! for posting this.
