I have a older Leica Summicron 35mm that has mold growth. should I send it to leica or is there a better alternative?

grateful for any advice.

Sherry Krauter(Golden touch) or DAG will be less expensive.

I too highly recommend calling Sherry. Some years back she resurrected my 35 summilux from the dreaded mold creatures. Just know she is a night owl so its best to call her late in the day.

Focalpoint may be overkill. It really depends on how bad the mold is and whether it's eaten the coating.
It takes a pretty long time for that to happen so the technician you use is up to you.
Focalpoint also has an excellent reputation but if the lens doesn't require recoating I think either one of the earlier mentioned
would be just as good.

but if it needs recoating focal point is the way to go?
