I am looking for a starting point for developing Ilford's HP5+ at 3200 ASA in Moersch eco 4812. I am looking for grain and contrast. Anyone time and dilution?

You may well be the first to try such a combination. I would either start with timing and dilutions that have been published for Dektol (given that print developers are generically similar), or contact Wolfgang through his website and see what his suggestion might be.

...funny, I'm actually looking for the same kind of information, I want to use 4812 for Rollei Ortho25 to get grain and contrast... So if any information surfaces, could you post it here? Thanks a lot, Michael

Try asking Mr Moersch himself. He is always willing to help.

OK, I sorted it out for myself somehow. Here is what I did:
I found dev times for Neutol in an Agfa datasheet (says 2-4min) and started calculating from there. Comparing dilutions and times for normal PE/RC paper I got 5:36 for Rollei Ortho 25 in Moersch ECO 4812 when diluted 1+14 (my standard dilution for paper)
The calculation was as following:
Neutol 1+7 takes 60sec for paper, so it has a "dev coefficient" of 60/7=8,57
4812 in 1+14 takes 170secs, 170/7 is somewhere near 12

Neutol 1+7 is 120 secs for Ortho25, so 120/8,57*12 /7*14=336 secs

SO I developed for 6min in the tray and voila, the densities seem alright to my eye.

Thanks! That is a starting point. Can you say anything about the quality of the neg? Anything on grain, sharpness or tonality?

...hadn't had the time to print this one, I'll report back after printing. From a look at the neg its very contrasty (we talk about an ortho film) and very smooth (since ortho have very few grain already and if you develop in paper dev they are virtually grainless). I'll print and scan next week, probably wednesday or thursday.

So, at least I found the time to scan the neg actually. The scanner was very busy handling the denser parts of the negatvie, as you can see, the highlights tend to blow. think print will handle the highlights a lot better.
As for grain I add two crops, scanned grain is often exaggerated an I scanned at 3600 dpi. No grain, sorry...
Sharpness I can't tell, this was a 1 second indoor shot
