Hi all. I'm about to put in a big order for new film developing equipment and chemicals based around the Paterson 3-reel tank and the MOD54.

A specialist shop advised me to get the 5 reel tank, saying that I might as well since it does not have to be used to capacity, so costs nothing more in chemicals. The MOD54 manufacturer advised me to get the 3 reel tank as it is easier to use and easier for measuring the chemicals.

Two gentlemen who know their stuff, two different opinions. I was wondering if anyone on here had used the MOD54 in a 5 reel tank and could share opinions and experiences...

Many thanks.

I've only used it in a 5 reel tank, gentle and slow inversions (2 per minute for me). I suppose its possibly to dislodge sheets with the greater air volume if you dont fill the tanks, but I don't run 6 sheets at once typically per reel anyway. I've also run 2 x Mod54s in an 8 reel tank.

Anyway thanks for the replies, guys. I'll weigh up which tank would be best.
