I settled on this paper about a year ago. I liked it a lot in Neutol WA.
I just ran out a month ago and ordered 4 more 100 sheet boxes. Lucky me. A week later I see that they stopped production.
Adox will move all steps of the production in house. I don't think that will happen anytime soon judging by how long it took for Polywarmtone, which is still not available. I really wanna support them but don't know how long my 400 sheets will last. From past experience not longer than a year.
I hope Polywarmtone will be released by then. Polywarmtone with a neutral developer might be a good replacement.
Otherwise I'll have to look into Ilford or Foma.
What are other MCC110 users doing?

Fomabrom Variant 111 is a very nice general purpose paper, which is worth a try.

I have stocked quite a bit for a big project that I will be printing but I am afraid I may not have quite enough. Too bad - this had become my favorite warm-tone paper. Ilford's warm-tone paper is quite different (different tint instead of white). I hope Adox will be able to restart production but by then, of course, it will be inevitably different.
Foma is a good alternative, as Anon has pointed out (in post #6).

Another paper that seems to have bit the dust, at least in the USA, is Oriental Seagull VC FB; this one was my favorite cold-tone paper.

I agree, it looks like Oriental Seagill VC FB is discontinued in the US without much detail. Too bad...

First, where are you getting your information. I was aware that Adox was having a production bottleneck, but just received my order of 11x14 MC 110 from Freestyle last week (it had been on back order for two or three weeks). I see both 16x20 and 20x24 MC 110 on their website now, but no smaller sizes.

I know Adox and Mirko comment here from time to time; I'd love to hear from them about the time frame. Adox MC 110 is one of my favorite papers too.

I've also been using the Fomabrom 111 Variant (VC) as well as the graded papers from them and find them quite nice. The 111 Variant would be my go-to if I couldn't get MC 110.

Dali,

What makes you think the Seagull FB is discontinued? I just read a couple threads about it, but haven't used it in years.

Best,

Doremus

Supposedly production of MCC110 fell through because of some conflict or negotiating failure with who was coating the paper. I personally suspect it was coated by Ilford/Harmond. The emulsion behaves in many ways exactly like Ilford FB emulsions. However, unlike Ilford FB papers, MCC110 had significantly more dynamic range built into the paper, with unparalleled shadow detail in step wedge tests. The dynamic range was a comparison of something like 12 steps for most Ilford FB papers at grade 1, to 19 steps on MCC110 at grade 1. Really the only paper I've seen to have so much dynamic range.

Doremus, Oriental paper is no more referenced by Freestyle and B&H required a special order to get Oriental VC FB.

My paper tests of a few years ago confirm exactly what you are saying about the paper's dynamic range.

As far as availability goes, Freestyle delivered most of what I ordered; the remainder cannot be delivered until Adox starts production again (hopefully).

As far as has been disclosed, it was coated by Inoviscoat (ex Agfa scientists/ engineers) to the Agfa MCC recipe. Ilford may have been doing some converting/ coating of other products for Adox, but as far as is known, not MCC110/112. As to why the deal fell, through it's not entirely clear, but it's entirely plausible that the available coating plants are pretty busy (going by the growth in the market in the last few years) and that the toll-coating price demanded may have been quite significantly higher (possibly to cover extra shifts/ personnel) than previously - and with a new coating line coming online in-house & a clearer idea of the costs involved, Adox may have decided to bide their time until their line is running well, with an eye to the long term where they're not beholden to external coating plants' priorities.

MCC110 is a wonderful paper. I am happy I have enough for now.
I use Fomatone for lith prints, but it has a very warm base for everyday prints.
I am looking forward to trying out Fomabrom as a replacement for MCC. I already use Foma RC paper for all my contacts and like the tone a lot.

I hope Polywarmtone will be released by then. Polywarmtone with a neutral developer might be a good replacement.

We are optimistic to introduce Polywarmtone in the short term. So that you can start to use it before your MCC stock is depleted.
And yes, the tone of Polywarmtone can be significantly changed by different developers.

No, neither the first nor the second. Harman technology has never been involved at all in the production of ADOX MCC. MCC has always been a full "Made in Germany" product.

As communicated by our company here on photrio and on our homepage
http://www.adox.de/Photo/mcc-and-mcp-production-situation/
we are working hard to get MCC back into production in the mid term. But we cannot give a detailed timeline for it. Making statements of a detailed timeline would be dishonest.

Was this not one of the best papers for lith-printing?
I am just getting my stuff together to learn this alternative printing technique and MCC-110 was on my shortlist.
Shame.

I've tried lith on mcc110 and didn't find it useful in that application for most purposes. Fomatone is a better choice; and if the new adox polywarmtone is close enough to the originl product, it will be perhaps an even better option.

Don't get me wrong, mcc110 is a fantastic paper for regular printing. I use it frequently and with much pleasure.
