i just received my first order of raw gum arabic in chunks. i found recommendations for the solution from 33% to 100% solution. so, i figured, a 50% solution can't be wrong.
i put 50gr of ground up gum arabic in 100ml of distilled water. now the volume that comes out is 150ml, not 100ml. because of the gum.
is that a 50% or a 33% solution what i mixed there?

That's 33 1/3%.

To make a given solution, you have to mix the chemical into less water than your target amount (about 60-65% in this case I suspect). Mix it up as well as you can, then add water to volume.

ah, ok. i wasn't sure about that.
thanks, i thought 50ml of water would be to little. i'll try to work with the 33% solution for now.
thanks for the help.

yes, of course you're right, PE. the gram per 100ml lingo got me confused.
