Perhaps you checked your Minox and it passed the shutter test. The times run plausibly, which means that longer times open the shutter longer than short times. So far so good.

So are the times correct? Of course not necessarily. “Dare to know” Kant tells us in this context.

So let’s measure the shutter speeds of our Minox. But how? Most methods send light through the lens and measure the opening of the shutter through the open back cover of the camera. Oh no, not with a Minox!

But yes, it works. I found out a simple method to accurately measure Minox shutter speeds:

That is very nice!

I was inspired by the one shown on the DAG website, but I never got arround to making a module for my tester.

Since you systematically process your knowledge about Minox, you already have the basis for a book.

Would that be an idea?

Impressive devices.
But next week I'll do what I should have done a long time ago and check my measuring device according to your idea:

I thought about it at first. But apart from whether the texts are professional enough, I don't think there are enough people interested in the topic. I estimate the number of potential buyers to be a few hundred worldwide. No publisher will be found for this I guess.

However, it motivates me to write even if I can only really help a few interested people. Luckily I don't have to make any money with it. That's why I decided to set up the whole thing as a website. This also has other advantages for me: I don't have to deliver everything at once, I can revise the texts again and again (which I do) and, above all, I often come into direct contact with my readers (like right now).

So I remain exclusively an enthusiast and, in a positive sense, an amateur.

Maybe at some point I'll make a PDF of the whole thing for download. But it's not that far yet, there are still too many open Minox topics that I would like to write about first.

Today I tested my Photoplug setup to find out whether my previous shutter speed measurements were accurate enough.

I think my setup delivers good accuracy. If you want to know how I tested and what specific results I got, you can read it here:
