So I bought a X700 super cheap and everything seems to work, kinda.

The first issue comes with metering. When I first inserted batteries and turned it on the metering was working fine and changed depending on light. Now it meters when the camera is first turned on then just stays when the power is cycled it re-meters the light.

The second issue - When the film advance leaver is wound you can see the shutter curtain advancing to its proper position. When the fire button is pressed it seem like both curtains close at the same time no matter what exposure setting is on. With the lens off and the back removed and pointing at a light I "sometimes" see the light through the curtain for a fraction of a second. It seems like the shutter timings are way off?

I would much rather repair the camera myself if at all possible. If this is something that can be repaired?

I read somewhere else that tis could possibly be the magnet release but I can't find much info on this?

Any and all ideas much appreciated.

Thanks.

So I may or may not have an answer to the shutter question.

F looks like the problem i seem to be having. Now my next question ic C6 the easy capacitor in the bottom plate or the one in the top plate?

Thanks.

You probably should, as they will probably both fail.

Supposedly the bottom cap is easier; you could try that first.
