Hey there,

so i got me a Minolta X-500 with a stuck shutter curtain, after nudging it back in place and increasing the tension the shutter works like a charm.
But now i have a new problem, the camera shuts down after taking a picture. Well, i know that there is a possibility, that the capacitor is damaged and i might replace it with a new one if i get a soldering iron but:

The camera works and continues to work if the advance lever is kept in the 30° position (for faster shooting). Also after a shot the camera won't turn on again until i move the lever. If i keep the lever in the 30° position i can take shot after shot without the camera shutting down.

I also own a X-300 and that one hasn't the same behaviour, so i don't think it's normal.

Anyone experienced this or has an idea what the problem could be? Or might it just be the capacitor as well?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Shutter on my 570 fires no matter where the advance lever sits after winding. You must have another problem causing the shutdown.

yes, i'm sure it has some kind of problem, also the batteries die like within a few days. guess there is a short or something.
can the battery die quicker because of a broken capacitor?

It depends on the type of fault of the capacitator and on how the circuit is designed.

i put in a new capacitor but the problem remains, if the advance lever is completely put back and i press the shutter, doesn't matter if i advanced it completely or not, the leds go out, if i put it in the 30° position i can press the shutter as much as i want and the leds stay on...
very odd problem that is
