Any Minolta fans here?

An Olympic Track & Field medalist toted this thing around the world in the 70's. I didn't have the heart not to buy it from him. I've never put a roll of film through it. It's in pristine condition, cosmetically. The 58mm & 135mm lenses check out, but the 35mm aperture is a touch sluggish, otherwise it's responsive. All the focus rings are buttery. The camera winds, fires and sound consistent at all shutter speeds. I shot the lenses on my mirrorless and they render nicely, but I was afraid I was going to ding them.

$199+paypal fees shipped to conus for this collectible kit? I spent some time examining the 35mm aperture and it's worse than I thought. It sticks fully stopped down and on occasion freezes before freeing up again. When I trigger the bayonet on the rear of the lens, the diaphragm is really sluggish, non-responsive on occasion, etc. It's not a terribly difficult lens to disassemble and reassemble, but I don't have time. Bottom line, I think a price adjustment is appropriate. $165+paypal fees shipped to conus. (p.s. the 58mm and 135mm have very snappy apertures -- no issues with them)

That's the model I started out with back in the 70's. Someone's going to get a great camera and lenses.

Wonderful camera! I have two of them or I'd jump on this. Good luck with the sale!

Would you consider selling the 58mm lens separately? If so, what price?

Thanks,
Dale

Hi Dale. That's a good question, and I can understand the bias for just wanting one of the lenses.

In order to answer the question, I went on ebay and looked at recent sales. It seems like the really clean copies go for $75 or more... though there are some transactions in the $50 vicinity that look like clean copies. However, none of them have that metal hood... and I would probably be better off selling that hood on its own to someone with a (very valuable) Hawkeye lens who wants that hood...

And the 135mm lens has traded in the $85 vicinity with some regularity... So... It looks like I would be better off breaking this kit up to maximize $$, thinking about it from a purely financial perspective with just those two lenses alone being worth more than the price i'm asking for this entire kit (when you net the shipping cost out of my asking price).

I'm going to let this kit sit for the weekend. If I decide to break it up, then I will take this ad down and make a new listing with the components individually priced... but they won't be coming at a bargain because I have to individually pack everything and make multiple trips to the post office, manage multiple transactions etc etc etc... It would be my preference for someone to get a really good deal on the kit and only have to manage one buyer. (I have a lot of vintage gear on the table that I plan to list shortly... I'm trying to raise $ for a fast super-tele for my nature photography (to replace the 300mm/2.8 lens I am selling in another post).

sorry for the long winded answer to your simple question.

Eric

Hi Eric, I'd be interested in the 58mm with hood if you do decide to sell separately. I'll check back to see if you've listed them separately, or better yet, can you send me a pm if you do so?

Thanks,
Dale
