I have my second Scan-Dual IV scanner.

I sold first one couple of years ago when needed desperately money.

Recently I got SD IV again, but when comparing to scans made with my previous one, I noticed that this one doesn't really resolve nearly as much as previous one.
Actually, it needs heavy use of USM to bring low contrast details visible.

The main mirror was quite clean, only some small dust particles was lying on the mirror.

As the result didn't show any improvement, I did complete cleaning. Mirror cleand, lens cleaned (it was dusty) and CCD checked.

Still... Not near as sharp as my previous one.

So how sharp should I get? Was my previous copy of scanner really within all tolerances being one of the million and current is just 'average' quality?

The attachment shows part of a (modified) USAF target scanned from Agfa APX-25 negative. No USM used. The number between line pattern is direct line pairs / mm reading.

Now I can only dream such resolution and contrast.
