well, there it is- I have one which locks in the "up" position, but doesn't when collapsed in the down/closed position. Does anyone who has one know if it is supposed to lock when collapsed? And how does it do that? I've looked this thing over with a microscope and can't see any feasible way it would do that... Thanks for any help!

Not Minolta, Mamiya. For better results change the title. Loose the knob to lower it.
