Minolta Paradjuster - Does it lock in the down position?

well, there it is- I have one which locks in the "up" position, but doesn't when collapsed in the down/closed position. Does anyone who has one know if it is supposed to lock when collapsed? And how does it do that? I've looked this thing over with a microscope and can't see any feasible way it would do that... Thanks for any help!

Not Minolta, Mamiya. For better results change the title. Loose the knob to lower it.

If it doesn't lock in the down position it isn't "para-normal".

Thanks for the info sheet- on mine the stopper locks solid in the up position, but there doesn’t seem to be any catch for it in the down position.
